I have John Rigg's Butterfly and have been reading about the different ways to get the peek. I'm having a little trouble peeking and have read several references to Scott Creasey's peek method with his FIP pad. Can someone point me to this pad? I'm not sure it is still available...or, possibly, is the peek published and available somewhere?
Thanks, Ryan |

Scott published an ebook named "First Impressions - The Book" in 2008.
Amongst several very clever routines, he describes the peek with the First Impression Pad in detail with many very clear photos. You can find him online here: http://www.scottcreasey.com And this is his email address: esp@scottcreasey.com Cheers Th. |

Stick with the butterfly. Its a top notch item for eons for a reason. Learn to use it, its easy.
The fip is OK but I can't find any refills for it. Bfly is tops. If you can't do it with bfly you will also have trouble with others. |

Thanks John. I have no intention of switching out pads - just trying to find the best - for me - method at peeking in real time. I had read through some old posts here on the Café that highly recommended Creasey's peek method with the Butterfly.
BTW, I JUST found refills at Sam's here in OKC - 10 exact match pads for $5! ryan |

I accidentally drew a house in the white section of the fip and I used pen. I suppose I could use it as an example.
Send me some pads. |

John,
PM with contact information. I will see what I can do this week...how many do you want?? ryan |

Sorry John, but I've PM'd you as well. I misread the above thinking you were looking for Butterfly replacements...I don't have Creasey's pad so I don't even know what those look like.
My apologies for 'getting your hopes up'... ryan |

I have been in contact with Mr. Creasey and he does have the ebook available that was referenced earlier in this thread, but he can't provide any information on the applicability of the peek described in his First Impressions - The Book, to the Butterfly. He does have his FIP available, but I really don't want a new pad - I just want some assistance in peeking the Butterfly.
Can anyone confirm that the method described by Scott will work with the Butterfly? Thanks, ryan |

Well, even if I rather use the ParaPad (surprise surprise ) than the FiP or the Butterfly I own them both - incl. their additional material (FiP Book, The Butterfly Intensive Training Video, ...).
Both are great impression devices and it is obvious that there went years of thinking, insights, practical experiences and craftsmanship in the development of both of them. That said (and knowing both of them), I cannot understand why one should use a peek method for one of those pads that was originated for the other one. And I don't even see any reason in researching the handling details for one of them if I want to apply the handling to the other pad. From my point of view neither John nor Scott missed a point concerning the documentation of their own developments. And both pads are definitively very good documented and explained. If you want to get further thoughts on the FiB, get yourself the FiP book. If you want even more informations and ideas on the Butterfly, get yourself the Butterfly Intensive Training Video. Both sources are directly related to the particular pad in question. The reason for us studying all sources on impression pads available was simply a question of wanting to avoid the re-invention of the wheel when we created the ParaPad on the one hand - and a question of ethics on the other hand. You should always honor those who came before you. As for your personal issue, I would definitively recommend to order John's Intensive Training Video - which you can get here: Link! Cheers Th. |

Thank you Thomas. Yes, one of the reasons I do not want to purchase the FIP is that - from what I've read - my next pad would be the Parapad. Currently, already owning the Butterfly, I can't really justify the expense. While I think the Butterfly is very well made, I was not that impressed with the initial documentation that came with the pad - primarily the part describing the peeking.
I had read thru old Café posts - 5, 6 years ago - about using the peek method that Scott describes in his FIP documentation with the Butterfly, hence my question. I do not have John's Butterfly Training Video yet... Again, thanks for your comments. ryan |

Ryan,
John published his Training Video DVD 2010 or 2011 - not sure on this. But anyway, if you're referring to MC topics which are older than this (5-6 years as you mentioned) the member who gave the advice on the FiP Peek obviously couldn't possess knowledge about the methods John explains on his DVD. So for now we have to say that the FiP related advice you are referring to is comparatively outdated, while the most up to date informations on Butterfly peeks are available on John's DVD. All the best Th. |

Just to endorse what Thomas has said:
I have the butterfly DVD and on it found the easiest, yet most deceptive, peeking method I could have ever dreamed of. This was in addition to other tips, peeks, and care and feeding of the butterfly. Tony |

Since the Butterfly is being discussed, have you heard of THE NEMATODE?
Jon's latest offering. Look it up on his site. Tony |

You can perform the same peeks with the Butterfly as with the First Impression Pad, you know. Dad has asked me to stop pointing out that the FIP is a well, I won't say....
