But something was missing. The iPod is definitively too small for comfortable reading. The iPad is may be just a little too big to carry around. Now the iPad mini takes the best of both worlds. Since few years, I'm lucky enough to be able to move regularly but it's frustrating because I have some very good books in France but because of the weight, obviously, I can't take them all with me. So the mini iPad would be like having a mobile library with me wherever I go. |

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply, the yare not so much books as magazines. I subscrie to a few magic magazines and on my pc there is no problem, but when I put them on the Kindle, then I get the problem, maybe its the format of the document or something, I use Calibre to change them from pdf to mobi.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

My Kindle lets me load and read pdf's perfectly. The instructions they offer aren't explicit, but all you have to do is go to amazon.com/myk and login to your account. Just upload the pdf to your cloud and then send it to your device.

Planning getting the Kindle Paperwhite very soon. Anybody got any input on this? Good/bad choice. I to have lots of PDFs but feel I'm not getting the most out of them unfortunately. The kindle and Calibre software seem popular.

I have a Galaxy S4 phone, a Galaxy Note 8" tablet and a Galaxy Note 10.1" Tablet all running android. APP I use is ezPDF Reader Pro by Unidocs Inc. $3.99 in Play Store. there is a trial app if you want to test drive it but I can attest it works great with every L&L ebook http://llepub.com/ I have purchased as well as the multitude of PDF ebooks I have bought through http://www.lybrary.com and Conjuring Arts Research Center http://conjuringarts.org/
Lybrary.com also takes advantage of Readmill formatted books (but the android version of the app is very sub-par to the IOS version. have tried Bluereader and have had at least 25% of my ebooks fail on that app There are also many classic magic books from the kindle store that work on the android and ios kindle app for very reasonable prices. the problem I found using the kindle app is any ebook I bought elsewhere over 50mb will not transfer to the library. It will take outside ebooks that are less than 50mb though. All in all, I like the Kindle App with Kindle books 1st and everything else (which is 90% of my library) on ezPDFReader Pro App.

I have about 2.5gb of PDF's myself and most are not kindle so the paperwhite (which I love my moms) just wouldnt work for me.

Amazon also gives you 5GB of free cloud storage for your own files (which can include non-Kindle books). I use this to store my magic ebooks in the cloud. These can be downloaded directly to my Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle App when I want to read them, and deleted from the device when I am finished (they stay in the cloud). The internal storage of 1.25GB on the Kindle Paperwhite is more than adequate for whatever I am currently wanting to read.

I have a Nook Simple Touch and any properly formatted e-book (azw, epub) takes up mere kilobits of space, so that's not an issue. When you move into PDF, never really meant as a portable format in the sense of readable on a portable device (it really meant a document that itself was portable across platforms - all Windows, Mac, and Linux systems could read the same document), then you go off the rails and an e-reader is not your best solution. For those you're better off with a tablet like the previously mentioned iPads, Galaxy Notes, Kindle Fires, or Nook HD+s.
That said, for the point of magic where I'm at (basics), there are plenty of books in ebook format, so it really depends on your digital library.
