Just heard a harrowing tale of how a performer had to go to the hospital after a show because he did the balloon swallow and ended up with an intestinal blockage.
Apparently, as it was explained to me, this is a rare but serious risk associated with the act, because, (again, as it was explained to me), "they really do have to poop that thing out the next day." So, y'know, be careful out there.

So, the larger take-away from this is this: sideshow stunts thrill audiences because the audience thinks they're more dangerous than they really are ... and sometimes the stunts really are deadly dangerous? Do performers slip into an unwise sense of security?

Not to make light, However,if this senario is true...I hope he wasnt working for $50 and a 100% of the stapling scratch...
