I have a bag around my waist. It's a woman's shoulder/hand bag, with several compartments. I shifted one of the straps around to wear it around my waist. Every so often I empty my hat into a zip-pocket part-way down the back of the bag, close to my tummy. I've learnt how to let the money slide from my open palm into that pocket.
A bum bag or fanny bag [depends which country you come from] would do the job. Some are just a wedge shape, like an upside-down orange [fruit] wedge. They don't hold much at the bottom of them. Better to get one which has a flat base to hold more in it.
The presentation makes the magic.

Years ago (it may have well been when I met Kosmo), I was hauling around a horribly heavy case-table around New Orleans. An old fella who played in the band by the Church asked me what was in my case. I had an answer ready for him that had worked many other pitches, "my Grand Mother" was my reply.
It didn't work there, as it might have been true, knowing that pitch, that's the sort of thing you might read about in the newpaper someday. Shortly thereafter I realized the response that would have worked for that pitch was, "my money". It proved to me that I can't ever rely on canned responses cookie cutter fashion. Every pitch might require a little tweak. |

Speaking of where our money goes....Eric there is a delightful moment in your DVD where it looks like it is being taken care of for you. Being in the same boat for many years I couldn't help but smile

It took me a couple of minutes to realize what you were referring to.
Yep, that was my wife actually putting something into my bag. Very unusual as you well know apparently. That dvd was difficult to do. Nowlin taped it and after 10 takes and the audience members obscuring the shot, I stopped directing/managing them; letting them pool up behind the camera. It was a coin dvd after all and not about the show per se. Back to topic, when in America I put most of my money in my pocket. If in Europe all my eggs go into my bag and I watch it always, keeping it either in front of me, or, to my side. |

While I am performing, I have pockets full of sponges, TT, Cards in vest pocket, etc. To not have to worry about my props, cash, keys, cell phone, etc, I have been putting my money into a the locking case I use, this case is attached to a tree or lamp post with a bicycle cable. The case also has my sign on it. It makes me have to worry less about it and allows me peace of mind to perform. You can see the cable in this picture, hooked through the handle of the case. It makes it easy when you have a large crowd or lots of passersby.

I think a 2 pound coin should be OK. And as I've mentioned before, I don't mention specific amounts as I think that would qualify as "direct solicitation of funds" which is verboten. Usually, if I get change, I put it in the compartment in the lid of my magic box (a tool box) One time, as I left, I put it all in the cup of the poor guy begging on the other side of the pizza place.

Good for you, Ed!
And yes, I was speaking strictly of US currency. Most folks don't carry any change larger than .25 cents. In fact, one of my bits asks folks to identify a half dollar and dollar coin. Most can't, sadly...

When I finish each act, I put the money in my wallet.

Putting money in your wallet requires you to count it between shows. That's like flashing a "mexican bankroll," asking for trouble |

I don't count it, I just fold it up and stick in the wallet.

Dream on big guy. I have never in a long time feared for my safety. In any room there are a minimum of 50 deadly weapons and on the street there are a lot more if someone is trained. But the point is the same. You don't flash money around. I use Bobby Mavericks busker vest, under it I have a shoulder holster style wallet The money goes from my hat into the shoulder holster. No one sees what I am doing or what I am putting in my vest even I don't know what's going there until I am gone and can count it. Some of the things I have got. include Christian pamphlets, women's telephone numbers, women's (I hope) addrtesses with a time to be there (never thought of following up those) plus most of the time MONEY, more $5 bills than 1's

Hehehe... I'm frequently hit on, but never had a number/date/time dropped in the bucket yet.
I agree, though... DON'T FLASH YOUR CASH. Just asking for trouble if you do.

Peter Lansing aka "Paddy",
Is saying that many women are just throwing phone numbers and addresses and a time to be at the women's homes his way? Hmmmm I think someone has been daydreaming a bit much lately. Women don't just give strangers phone numbers, addresses and times to be there...unless they must be very desperate or foolish. In another post he claims to place money in a secret compartment in his suitcase. In this post he now states that it goes in a special secret pocket in his vest? It's also quite clever how he casually mentions that he has more 5's than 1's...Lol. I hope Ruthie doesn't mind him "Following Up" on those phone numbers. |

Devious, "Paddy Cake" can never make up his mind. That is why women target him.
I bet he will next bring up he puts the money in an oven as fast as he can. |
