Unless your hands are abnormaly sweaty I wouldnt do anything about them. My hands are pretty moist and I use that to my advantage in both my card and coin work. Being able to pick something off the table by having it stick to your hand is an excellent tool. Ross Bertram and Bobby Bernard, as well as others, have published routines that use that idea, as well as refinements of the idea itself.

To continue with what Mr. Miller above described...
It is more useful to work with what you have than to diminish yourself. If you look in Apocalypse you can find some items that make use of this hand condition... including a coins through table method that really can't be done otherwise.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

My hands have had this problem ever since I was a little child I'm almost 41 n ow and still have the problem. It is not as bad as it once was but it still is a large problem.
The problem with using anti-perspirents is that they tend to wear off shortly and once they do your hands sweat even worse then they would have with out anything at all and nine times out of ten it will happen durring the performance. My hands are so bad at times they even sweat while I am on the phone. I also go thru decks of cards often. |

I learned this on the Café; run the edge of your coins on a bit of violin rosin to aid tackiness. It is very effective.
I really only have used it a couple of times, specifcally when manipulating coins such as Barber halfs, which typically have little, or no milling as an aid. I must say, I am taken aback by the suggestion of using SSRI drugs, or anything remotely close in an effort to perform magic. Fellas, if I have to go that far to do coins, well, lets just say performing magic isn't for me. Just my 2 cents. |
