Is the sterling set ok to buy?
"The Magic Store" has the sterling for $29
and it has the Johnson for $40.

Which set should I buy?

I bought a Sterling set and it was 'imperfect.'

My suggestion:

Spend a C-note (or so) and get a Lassen set (www.toddlassen.com)

I haven't seen the Johnson products CSB... you might be okay going with them (they typically have superb quality.)

Overall, I think the old adage "you get what you pay for" applies here.

I too was unhappy with my Sterling coin. It was too thick and not well made. Also, I second the vote for Todd Lassen's coins. If you're going to use this prop, get the best. You won't regret it for a moment. You may very well regret getting an el cheapo model.

I had a Johnson set and technically speaking it was very good. The only thing I did not like was the clad half dollar.
All my coins are silver, so I got a set from Todd.

I have his set with a Canada totem dollar, a real old Chinese coin and a Peruvian "sol d'oro". Besides looking gorgeous. The size of this set is between a dollar and half dollar size, which is better, visible, and still rather easy to palm and handle.

Does Lassen's set use Walkers or Kennedy halves?
I kind of like Kennedy halves because they "click" better during, well, during a "click-pass".

I like the sound better.
Anyone have thoughts on that?

When Todd has something NOT - he will make it!
Kennedy Halves are a standard item from him, just visit his website http://www.toddlassen.com/index.html you won't be disappointed.

I have the Johnson set. I had not used it for several months and just got it out this morning to try Aztec-Orient Express from Bannon's Smoke and Mirrors. (Just got the book and it is great.) And I think the Johnson set is excellent. Todd's sets look great, but I'm not ready to spend $130.00 for CSB. The Johnson works so well, I think I would buy a Lassen sh*** set before I splurged on CSB.

Go with Lassen-it's worth the price.
