It's driving me crazy. I have a 3-way coin/card envelope that I made based on instructions I found in print (most likely a book). I have an effect I'd like to use it with, and want to refer back to the instructions to review handling subtleties. The problem is I can't remember which of my dozens of books I got it from. I've checked several, but haven't found it in any of them. So, if you remember a reference to a 3-way envelope, please post it -- there's a good chance it's in my library.
If you remember a video that shows this, please post that too -- I have dozens of videos too, and I may have gotten this from a video and just don't remember correctly. Even an e-book is a possibility. I did try searching the Café (and the internet). I found lots of references to double envelopes and even a reference to a 4-way envelope, but only one or two to 3-way envelopes, and they weren't sources that I have access to. Thanks for your help! |

You're showing your youth, Pete! Most of us old guys still refer to the book by its original name, "Practical Mental Effects." (I still can't figure out why Dover changed the title and then put a picture of Dante instead of Annemann on the cover. Dante wasn't even a mentalist!)
But, yes, that is where the envelope you are seeking may be found. (It originally appeared in Annemann's Jinx.) |

I didn't know that was Dante on the cover.
Can you inbox me Bob? Been trying to message you Pete |

Also, Ted Lesley's wonderful book may have what you are looking for as well.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Unfortunately, I went whole hog and bought Max Abrams' massive Annemann tome -- it only indexes the material by the name of the tricks. Any pointers to the trick that has the triple envelope? And I double-checked ParaMiracles -- only the Teleport Envelope, no triple envelope.

"Practical Mental Effects" doesn't communicate meaning to that audience, whereas "Practical Mental Magic" does. Dover tends to use stock art free of copyright, so it's surprising that the cover image would be of a specific person, too recent to be free of copyright unless they created it themselves. Just curious -- have you seen this stencil portrait of Dante anywhere else, or only the photo that it's based on? |

Duane- No, I haven't seen that stencil anywhere else, but it was clearly created from the very popular photograph of Dante.
Personally, I was a bit saddened when PME went out of copyright and Dover released it to the general market. |

The dover cover always reminded me of 60s marvel comics artwork...

I got my reference -- Ted Lesley's Kismet envelope. Indexing is not always the best in magic books. Thanks for everyone's help!

I believe Becker featured one in his Mentalism lecture with Lee Earle. That one is probably in one of his books, but I wouldn't know which one.

I should have stated that in my above post for you Phil. Anywise, glad you found it as it's a great tool.

Phil have you had much success with this? I am using pay envelopes which are just the right size for cards. Maybe my handy work isn't up to scratch but Too much is showing.

Full instructions for the Kismet are available online from Ted Lesley. There is a perfect envelope in the UK post office in terms of inner design and border. Let me know if you struggle to find one that works well and I will point you to it.
