I'm thinking of putting a wizard's oath, kind of like a wiccan rede into my grimoire, but I have been thinking for three days now, and can't think up the sentences that are needed.
Therefore I humbly ask your help. Please help me. greetings, Cirrus |

I don't want to make it that dark. I believe in a good world, although being a grimoire, it shouldn't be dark. I don't think in this world that christians would get it done again to burn witches, although one might never know.
the wizard oath should be a more of a list of the qualities that the wizard possesses, linked to the elements, but not just a mere list, a more animated poëm-like list. Greetings, Cirrus |

I looked at that website while doing research, but didn't find something suitable.

I get the impression that your props & magic are a synthesis and expression of your spirituality. Write from the heart. Traditionally, taking a magic oath binds you to certain tasks that represent the way to an ideal that you are striving for. Maybe think about this ideal mode of behavior, and attempt to articulate it with the written word. But remember, a magical oath is a Geas, the breaking of which can have drastic repercutions...

You're not joining the Green Lantern Corps, Brother Cirrus. This is about you: who you are and who you strive to be more so than what you can do. The latter is driven by the former. Start by examining your core values and rank them by their importance to you. If you were naked in the world, what would you still have that defines you and which of these qualities would you work hardest to refine. Now consider what you would become, how you would be perceived, and what it takes to get there. A promise to the Powers means little if it's not a promise you can keep to yourself. It all starts in you. Decide what you need to say, add a little of what you want to say, and remove anything that you can't honestly say. Is what is left something you would swear on and accept a penalty for breaking (Good oaths have a penalty!)? Only then should you worry about rhymes and decorations. Throw in darkness, blood, gems, and a monkey because monkeys make everything just a little better.

Oath: A solemn promise, often invoking a divine witness, regarding one's future action or behavior. (From the dictionary)
I take it you have not read Crowley or Regardie? They have some interesting "Oaths" and suggestions how you might dedicate your life. Is this just a fun thing or part of a life quest? If it a life quest thing, then its best you come up with your own words and not rely on others. Only you will know if you break your own oaths and promises.
