Coming very soon. The director of Alabama Landmarks is endorsing the use of some of the second floor office space in the abandoned, though still magnificent, 1914 vaudville Lyric Theatre in downtown Birmingham. I just have to adapt some of the space for that purpose. It is already spookily shabby (having been abandoned for decades). Hardeen appeared at the theatre, so that gives me a good Houdini connection.
Ahhh...plans to make...spectres to drag across the veil....and a hell of a lot of work to do...I am positively giddy! The pic was taken yesterday in the office space so ya'll can see the shabbyness of it. On the plus side I do have an extensive and growing mailing list courtesy of my downtown Ghost Walk.... Yessir, my old friend! I first saw the Lyric 20+ years ago. At that time, I was preparing for a show at the Alabama across the street, and a friend (Screamin' Jesse) took me over there. At that time, I had no idea the Lyric remnants even existed. It blew my mind to walk into this dank, musty old building and when the lights were flipped on, I found I was standing in this forgotten, neglected, hundred year old theater from a bygone day. What a jewel!!
It will be a perfect locale for what you plan to do. The signs on the doors are evidence enough! If you get in good with some of the folks that know the old history of downtown B'ham, there is another cool place (hopefully still there) that I once visited. I can't recall exact location, but there was once a bar there. I was with the owner of Jake's, who was buying out this other place's remaining bar stock when they closed. That place wasn't so spectacular, but the pearl in the oyster was when he took us to a storage area in the back of the building... In here were the original ruins of a Prohibition era speakeasy. The murals on the wall would make you way more than giddy. Maybe that can become a little treasure hunt for you!

So it appears that I am going to be doing the seance, not in the offices, but in the theatre itself!

Wow! That place has been cleaned up a whole lot since I saw it. As you saw from those links I posted on your other thread awhile back, Birmingham has a very rich history in its theaters.
The speakeasy was somewhere downtown. It was over 20 years ago, so I can't pinpoint it. I'm thinking it might have been the location of the old Cane Break, which was on 4th Ave N. You might check with Ona Watson. He may know a little of the history.

Lord of Illusion,
You might want to check those booklets that are found at the cashregisters in Walgreens. The ones that are about the history of Birmingham. Barney

Hey, I live in Pelham and had no idea there was a Ghost Walk. My wife and I will definitely attend and bring some friends. Keep us posted on dates and times for the seance. I can let the local magic club know to help spread the word!

It's still fairly new. This is the 7th week and I haven't needed to do a lot of advertising to sell out every weekend. Go to my webpage to book and for more info....
