Sorry Mind Monger but as soon as someone hits the age of 25 they are too old to start.
If you started 2 years ago it would have been okay. Did you not learn that in Corinda? Just kidding! I wish you the best of luck Mind Monger. granterg |

Jiminy! If I could get back into magic (after having foolishly given it up at age 12) when I was 49, and if I can be doing mentalism at Too Darned Close To Sixty, then your age of 22 is what I'd consider prime age to get into mentalism. You cannot possibly get an audience to accept you as authoritative when you're a teenager, so you've started learning at about the right age. And with the proper books, I might say! You might try picking up Fundamentalism by Bob Cassidy and the Principles of Mentalism by Richard Osterlind.
And then go out, perform, fail, perform, succeed, perform, fail -- and repeat that until you succeed more times than you fail. On second thought, keep repeating throughout life. *jeep! and God Bless! ---Grandpa Chet

I have had to tell myself that it isn't too late many times as I got back into things at a much later age. Especially when you see so much emphasis on the successful young performers. If they are that good at that young an age how am I going to compete, or even co-exist. Then you look back and notice that there is always a new crop that is that way, but somehow there is still a place for me in this racket. Must be something about life that levels things out.

Tim,
To keep a sense of balance in the converstion, I won't sugar coat this. You're way too old. At 27, it is almost impossible to learn anything...well anything new. You nuerons have just stopped firing and God help you if you have stirred them with any alcohol or drug use. I can only assume you have consumed large quantities of fast food...do I really need to tell you what that does to the bionurontic process. At your age, I should think you should be looking for a nice retirement home. They show reruns of Benny Hill and Dial 999. They also allow you to finger paint. Sorry to lay it out like that...it is harsh... there are those "Glass half full" (probably librals) types above me that do believe that you can still "get in" on the action...but, well, good luck with that. |

Nothing to offer regarding your age, just a note that I'd be wary of using your 'Mind Monger' moniker publicly, as it was the stage name of the awful Derren-Brown-a-like character in the British comedy(ish) film 'Magicians'.

Hi luke. Was wondering when someone would point that film out to me. I am aware of that unfortunately and don't worry it's JUST a user name. Would never ever consider it as an actual stage name! That would be dreadful haha.
