Have you found something beside mentalism that makes you say so many times:
Wow this is so simple....yet so cleveeer! I mean just think about acidus novus. I was just in town today to find a place where I could buy billets for the first time just so I can start learning stuff from Switchcraft because with billets there is so much you can do. I want to know all about them. Regards, Marian |

The greatest appeal of mentalism isn't necessarily in the methods, but rather in bringing a performance to life, with the methods being secondary. To me, this is where the true amazement happens. This is what can blow away an audience, this is what makes the performer. To me methods are like a kid learning a secret, but it's what you do with those secrets that can create impact, amazement and believability. They can be the foundation to create something special, or remain just a personal secret to impress yourself. |

Billets are probably the most difficult but most rewarding area of mentalism.
But I have to admit that this is the first time I have ever heard of anyone having to go someplace special to "buy billets." They're just slips of paper, business cards, or pieces of index cards. You can even tear blank pages out of books and use those. (Which is exactly what many of the old time readers like Reese and Foster used to do. The soft paper doesn't make noise when opened.) With practice you should be able to use any type of paper or card stock that happens to be available. |

Hey Bob,
Well actually I moved not to long ago in Italy...and I don't know the city very well and neither the language. Guess what happened. I traveled today by bus to a typography almost across town and they said they don't sell blank business cards only printed..lol So I came back and I have found close by paper that I can use for billets but they could not cut it the size I need as it was a simple library. After that I searched more online and found a tipography closer to me that I will travel to tommorow or in the following days to have the paper cut the appropiate size. I know I could cut it myself but that would take a lot of time and it would not be as neat. So you see I would love to be in my country and things will be a lot more simpler...and I would not have to go to a "special place" to get billets. lol Regards, Marian |

I've got to say that I have never ordered pre-cut billets in my life. Very often I just tear them from regular paper. They're just slips of paper, after all.

When I sold furniture I would tear a strip off the adding machine.
But I'm surprised parmenion is offering up the good stuff on an open forum. |

I use just about anything to write on, but I have to admit, I love picking up interesting looking note cubes.
I'm lazy and like having a pad of paper ready to go. |

Yes! Besides mentalism, I love Texas Hold'em Poker. It is like discovering a new world where no two circumstances are the same. Like it consists of infinite possibilities and ways to play. Oh, it is so much fun. Would love to enter the WSOP main event some day!

By the way, billets are fun but I have no use for them at all.

Trading can be like that. There is always a new indicator that is supposed to make you rich. It can be back-tested to show how amazing it is in action.
Just like in magic and mentalism, if you become enamored with the method you can become blind to the results. When they say that past performance is no indicator of future results they are not kidding. The difference is that experimenting and playing with the indicators can get expensive quickly if you don't follow your basic money management rules. |
