There has been several dangerous storms recently. Plus the heat wave breaking many records across the country. Has the recent weather interrupted anyone from performing?

Great question. We continued to perform but it certainly effected how we went about it. Learning to adapt as safety of myself and my wife is foremost in my mind. The hardest one we had to face was performing on Saturday our 55 minute stage show at a festival. it was outside and on a stage but with a heat index of 105 degrees even at 11:00am.

We modified our performance wear and went with light weight clothes and shorts. I had to cut the illusions out as it was much too hot and dangerous for Kelly to be inside them under those conditions. We brought tons of water and took extra time in setting up and breaking down.

My three hour show yesterday got cancelled. It was suppose to be on a field as part of a fun day. But tremendous rains flooded the ground and health and safety stepped in and refused everybody access onto it.

I do a regular barbecue every Tuesday at a resort. Last Tuesday it was postponed to Thursday. I was late because of a prior booking. Tomorrow is looking dodgy. I face this every day of the summer. Wettest summer here since 1766. America wasn't even a country the last time we had this much rain!

Last Friday night I was busking on the street in 102 degree heat, and 1,000% humidity. My eyes were blinded with sweat, my nose didn't stop running all night, my clothes stuck to my body, but the crowds were big, they applauded every trick, and filled my hat several times with one dollar bills. All in all I had a blast, and four bottles of water. LOL

The weather here has been great. In fact one of my fairs that I perform at every year in 90 to 100 plus degree weather was in the mid 70's. So it was a treat.

I feel sorry for everyone in the middle and eastern parts of the country. I was just in Norfolk and had little reason to leave the hotel as it was pretty unbearable out of doors. It was still warm and humid at four in the morning when I went to the airport.

It has been 48 years since I visited lovely Norfolk Virginia. Do they still have signs on their lawns "sailors and doge keep off the grass"? The memory of the warm friendly people of Norfolk Va. is a memory I'm not likely to forget.

Here in St Louis it's been in the 106-110 so it's been very hot. I've learn to adjust. In the afternoon we've had heavy rain. Luckily I haven't been effected by it.

Nothing really changed yup been out in the heat for a few festivals but instead of wearing my full shirt and tie with jacket I went with my shortsleve funky shirt and jacket but took the jacket off earlier in the show then usual by rearranging the show so that I could do so.

lots of water but still performing full show illusions and all.

what I did notice at one event that I have done before there were half the amount of people as I guess 105 degrees is just not fun to be out in. I would agree.

best part is I think I lost another 2-3 lbs woo hoo.

stay safe all.

I have been performing for the local Frontier League Basbeball team. Over 100 temps and spotty rain. But we waited a little bit and the rain passed. Crowds are thinner because of the heat though.

I only do two outdoor shows each year, a local festival in June and a county fair in July. Both were cancelled this year because of lack of funds. Actually, the little festival went out of business. I was asked to do a parade but they never returned my contract or calls. So I fianlly left voicemail saying I was unable to make travel arrangements. Weird, they mailed me an invitation an acceptance form, which I returned with my contract (confirmation form, really). So I don't know what happened there. But it's o.k. it was 102 degrees that day and I really didn't want to walk 2 1/2 miles then back to my car. I could have used the money though Smile

I had an outdoor show during the heatwave. Luckily, it was in the shade and there was plenty of water available. Next time, I should have sweat bands on my wrists and have a towel available - the egg bag wanted to cling to my hands.

All the rain in the UK has led to a huge number of last-minute enquiries. Sports parties, outdoor events, and BBQs have had to be cancelled - but I'm already booked up, so it's been no benefit to me. So what's better, scorching heat, or ridiculous amounts of rain (BTW, we are allegedly experiencing a drought, and a hosepipe ban has only just been lifted, despite torrential rain and flooding across the UK - could only happen here!).
Personally, I go for our climate here, because when the sun does come out, it's glorious. This morning I sipped my morning coffee on the patio at 7:00am in the most beautiful sunshine, had a workout in my gym; but then I had to drive to London (second time this week, and I was in Birmingham on Saturday) - the return journey was once again through a deluge of pouring rain. They say it's because the ice caps are rapidly melting. I think we can expect unusual weather patterns for decades.
But we Brits love nothing better than to talk about the weather.
Overall, the bad weather in England has meant a LOT more work for entertainers. I wouldn't mind a few weeks of blistering heat, but as we have at least an hour or two of baking heat in between all the rain, almost every day, I'm happy to simply wait for the sun.
