Wanted to ask you multiple cup owners what kind of maintenance, if any, is required with cups that have chrome plating? Does it scratch easily? How does the finish hold up over time and use, etc...?

I have a couple of chrome sets; I usually clean them with mild dish soap if I really grease them up. Windex has also worked well. Just use a soft towel as not to scratch them.
The chrome set I have used the most has no mouth bead and over the past years, shows no wear or tear... even around the mouth. The other sets, though not used as much are all hanging in there. They are all RNT sets. I would say you should be OK with normal use... just no wand whacking. Good luck, Bruce |

If you keep cups stored nested and in a bag you should invest in some silca packets.

The silica packets absorb moisture, Corbett.

Use soap and water, just like washing the bumper on your car, some car nutz go as far to use chrome polish.
All you need to do is buff with a cotton chamois after washing. no chrome polish needed. |

Generally speaking, silica gel packets (not "silica" packets) are only necessary if the environment is humid or if the bag is exposed to a lot of moisture. You can recharge silica gel packets by heating them in an oven. The stuff is cheap, though. If the plating is done correctly, you shouldn't need to do much more to it than you would a bumper or a toaster.
However, it never hurts to wipe them off after you use them. If you expect me to answer a question, send me an e-mail letting me know that you have posted one to me on this forum. I don't visit often any more.
