Hello,
I am currently practicing 'Sinful' by Wayne Houchin which for those who don't know is making a borrowed coin, (signed if you wish) vanish and then reappear in a sealed can of soda (Coca Cola or Fanta for example) Wayne performs this by slamming the coin in to the can which although is a great method I am looking for something a bit different. I would prefer to vanish the coin using whatever means then have the can appear from somewhere. Then when the sealed can is opened the coin is inside. I have recently seen Dynamo produce a can from his shoe using a similar same final load move for cups and balls. I do like this method but I was wondering if you guys n gals knew of any other ways to produce a can of soda. Thanks, AA

Besides the shoe one, the only other method I know requires a helicopter and two assistants, one on the ground supplying coordinates and the other in the helicopter acting as a bombardier. Otherwise, I got nothing.
Might try the secret section forums for more detailed answers.

Haha, I'll see if I can get myself a helicopter!!
I've actually answered my own question. I perform "Glass of water production from a spectator's jacket" as taught by David Penn on his lecture DVD. I can use the same method to produce a can. Once it's in play the rest should be plain sailing. What do you think to my routine..... 1) Get a borrowed signed coin. 2) Magically vanish it showing both hands empty. 3) Produce a can of Diet Coke from a spectators jacket sleeve. 4) Open the sealed can, pour out the contents to leave their signed coin visibly trapped inside the can. 5) Hand out the can containing the signed coin as a souvenir for the spectator to keep. 6) Enjoy a glass of Diet Coke and smile. I LIKE that, Double-A! I love 'Sinful' by Wayne Houchin! I always did it on a new can from the machine, but your way is more "magical"!

Thanks Doug, the idea to combine the two effects just came to me out of the blue. I've not tried this out yet or even practiced the full routine but I've gone through the method in my head and I think it will work perfectly.
I like the vending machine idea as it creates the impossiblity that it's a gaffed can. I may try that too one day, thanks for sharing! Thanks again, it's nice to hear positive feedback. AA

David Penn has a bottle production....http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=471883&forum=109&10
Don't know if it would work for a can but you could always ask. Danny |

Hi,
Has anyone noticed that coca cola has changed the hole size in their cans? it makes things slightly more difficult to perform the effect unless using a smaller coin. |

I do a similar version making the can appear from my jacket sleeve as I remove it under the pretense of being hot. The fanta ties in nicely as a bit of a gag too.

Double-A - that production is Patrick Page's; it's in "Magic Page By Page". Penn's lecture video has pretty much the same explanation though; Penn has an additional wrinkle on it I think (using a spectator's jacket). I'm pretty sure he credits Page for it in the video.
It's a great method. Page used it to produce a full glass of beer in a bar - apparently out of nowhere... EDIT - if it's the Magic Circle video you're talking about, I think Page was actually in the audience...? |

Thanks to all for the above ideas, some great options there!!

For Penn's teaching of it I was referring to both Penn's lecture DVD and also the Magic Circle lecture you mention. Mr Page is indeed in the audience and given credit by Penn. I hope I didn't mis-credit, I was only referring to Penn teaching the effect not being the creator. It really is a fun effect to perform!! Thanks, AA

Sorry - I didn't mean to sound like the Credit Police...
I'm a big fan of Page and this effect so I thought I'd chip in. Penn's teaching of it is great. |

It seems like such an impossbile effect that when I then move on to card effects I may be "peaking too early" in my routine. I only ask as I'm currently trying to put a routine together, I have another thread going in the 'New to Magic' section about it. With my above proposed method of producing the can from a spectator's jacket I could do with not having to store the can on my person throughout my 15-20 minute routine (people who know the method will understand why), hence it would make sense from a "prop mamagement" point of view to perform it first. OR is it too strong an effect?? Thanks for everyone's thoughts, AA
