Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a gimmick where I can produce jets of water from my hands. I thought about using a rubber bulb, but came across this device: http://www.dream-concepts.com/2008/index......etail=24 This looks very interesting, but I have heard very bad things about the company and haven't been able to contact them. Does anybody know if a similar device exists on the market? Thanks George |

I believe in the old days you are correct in your thinking of rubber bulb, now they are called ear syringes. A smaller nozzle has to be made to thin out the stream. Then I heard one performer simply use a water balloon pierced with a needle in several places. Another used a photographic air bulb to blow dust off photos and lenses.
The only water stream production I know that is available is part of the Bev Bergeron Multiplying Bottle routine. I seen him perform it once and it is fantastic. He is currently selling a sealed manuscript of the entire act, but has limited performing rights. Read about it here: http://bevbergeron.com/manuscripts.html |

I remember Rocco using a bulb of sorts to produce a water jet in his FISM act (where he produced ice, corn, icecream etc).

Jeff McBride also taught a bulb less version in a lecture, it may be on one of his videos as well.

Yes, I also remember the Jeff McBride lecture notes where he produced the fountains of water without using a bulb. I may still have the lecture notes, but I believe they were notes on his Commando Act and were published through Adam Fleisher of Magic Arts Journal back in the 80s.

Back in the day when it was released, it was a dual VHS set, one tape with the performance and some interviews with Michael Ammar that you could share with family and friends, and the second tape had the explanations on it, plus some more interviews. You can find that video (now on DVD) currently, here: http://www.yourmagic.com/catalog/product......s_id=133 |

Lloyd's fountain act was made years ago. I have thought about remaking it but did not think there was any interest. It looked a lot like the Japanese or Dante/Thurston Fountain act.

There is another item too. It was made at a magic shop in England. I do not know if the item is still being made. You can shoot long streams of water from the object. The magician would put his fist to his ear basically so the water will shoot out. It was spelled similar to squizzer or splizzer.

There are some new developments since Thurston that could be exploited here. One is the laminar flow nozzle. These fountains have a really clean single column of water, they do not disperse over distance. They look like a water laser, and they are very clear inside so they have nice optical properties. The other development is lasers and LED lights. They can be used to illuminate the water, especially laminar flows. Not sure how to make this magical, might be more of a marvel of engineering.
