As for me, all of my Tango gaffs still work well with lots of use. I haven't had anything break, so I've never had to ask for a repair. I did have one minor incident with Marcello that (taken together with posts from other Tango customers here on the Café) made me believe that Marcello likes to discourage returns, even for serious problems. I chose not to pursue the issue - so that's on me. I recognize that each manufacturer has to decide what kind of customer service they want to provide, and customs regarding customer service are, I'm sure, different from country to country. In the United States, I think that there is an expectation that a manufacturer will stand behind their products. That may not be true in Argentina. I don't believe in unfair criticism that is designed to harm the reputation of a manufacturer, and I have always been of the opinion that If you don't have something constructive to say, don't say anything. With that in mind I offer the following: I realize it might be a pain, and would probably not make much money for Tango, but I would personally pay a bit to retrofit my older TUCs to replace the square m****ts with round. I wouldn't mind buying a DIY kit, and I don't think I am the only one that would pay to make my older TUCs work better, given the number of TUCs that were sold with square m****ts. I think this solution would solve most of the outstanding problems, including Jim's. Perhaps if enough people comment here, Marcello might consider offering this. Alan |

No, if I do get this repaired, it will be because I find a round magnet and a method of attachment that works. To be honest I haven't had much luck with Tango service, unfortunately. I won't bother to contact them; I have in the past to no avail. I don’t like to waste my time.
I only posted to see if anyone has had this happen and if so, what they were able to do. Sounds like no one has. Se la vie. Thank you. Jim |

Jim, you can surely get a very suitable magnet - probably a better one (meaning a bit smaller in diameter and the same thickness, so 'the move' is done more efficiently) at one of the big online magnet stores. 1 of these, plus a few replacements will likely cost you less than $5, shipped!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I like the DIY Kit idea. I'd like to be able to adjust my TUC so the handling is more to my liking.

I already have a fairly large collection of various shaped magnets, some from Supermagnetman.com and some from K&J Magnets. Finger rings and discs mostly. I have some 19 mm x 0.8 mm disc magnets and also a handful of 20 mm x 0.5 mm discs. The square one that broke is approximately 19 mm square, so either of these is OK as far as diameter, but I think the thinner the better, so I'll give one of the 20 x 0.5 mm discs a try first. Both sizes are rated N50, so that should be plenty strong for this.
Thanks! Jim |

Let us know how it works. I guess we are on our own here.
I would think some sort of glue designed to bond metal and a Teflon circle, perhaps? |

2 part epoxy or another adhesive - NOT super glue, which is too brittle - for the solid parts, then just put the Teflon over that.

Thanks to all people posting.
The Tango gaffs I own have all been purchased since 2010. I've been happy with the quality, but do understand that initially there were problems. I've read a lot of the older threads about Tango products; one thing seems to be consistent in all of them: the quality has gone up. I personally can't compare, but like I say, I've been pleased with the comparatively recent purchases. A product like the TUC, as many have mentioned, can be reasonably expected to need some TLC after a certain amount of use/abuse. Also, time and time again, Marcello has followed up complaints on these threads with apparent goodwill. It isn't often I feel 'grateful' to a business, but Tango manages to provoke that emotion. I'm quite certain a Lassen work of art would provoke something more, but I can't see how comparable a small factory output is to that of a solo craftsman. The prices reflect the difference, and for the money, Tango is really excellent. |

Hello I'm here. Sorry to no appear in the last days but I was celebrating my FISM prize
First I want to say, friends I can't know about your problems is you don't send an e-mail to me. Beleive that I love to enter here and read the magician opinions but, sometimes I'm traveling lecturing and performing and I take weeks without enter to the forum. I accepted always, to repair or to change defective products. Of course the discusion many times is to decide if the problems is a original one or a problems that become for a uncorrect use. As it's imposible to decide to the distance how the problems caused, we always, charged the shipping fee to send back the coins. But, we always repaired the coin is the problem was a bad use or we changed the coins if the problems was caused in the original process of manufacture. So, our policy is the following: clients have to pay for shippng, we'll change free cost the products is it had a manufacture problem. If the problem was caused for a bad used or for the normal use during the years, we'll charge a small amount or in most of the times we'll repair it for free. So, if somebody has a problems connect to me and send me the coins. |
