I've been brainstorming ideas for presenting a Pyrokinetic persona lately and I'm trying to find or create minimalist type effects that are visual without being overly flashy. My current repertoire involves emanating heat to a spectator over a distance, heating objects, metal bending, manipulating and extinguishing a candle flame. While searching for ideas I came across a video of a Russian man demonstrating pyrokinesis that floored me. With bare hands he was melting plastic cups on command. Then taking a piece of paper he could burn a small hole in it or create a larger burn area. I've been trying to recreate these demonstrations but so far I haven't a clue. Been working with a concealed magnifying glass but the beam of light is too obvious. Thought perhaps the fire workers here might be able to help lead me in a better direction. If you do a search for Russian real pyrokinesis on youtube you'll find about a dozen videos of this guy. Heres one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmSS7zYyApE

If I have not seen the end I would have totally different opinion for its method. I believe that the secret does not have to do with gimmicks, techniques etc rather than the special material the cup is made out. Many "youtube magicians and mentalists" though sometimes use chemicals that normally none will use in real life due to the fact they are dangerous and not practical.
For a safer option you could imitate the effect safely by using different meterials. I have pmed you with more info |
