I have to admit - I kinda felt the same way.
The truth is, I have performed the trick quite a bit last year at Library and Halloween shows, and I really don't NEED the dvd at all at this point. I have completely worked out my own routine by now. BUT - the the point of the posts above, I do feel a BIT slighted in that originally when I purchased, a dvd WAS promised as part of the package.

Hello disgruntled customers,
It is true I promised a dvd when I first released the wildly popular Princess in a Pickle. I am sorry that I never made that dvd. But since then I realized that you can learn all you need to know by watching the performance video on my web site (http://www.sillymagic.com/princess_pickle.htm). There is nothing technical about working the mechanics of the trick. Thus no need for a typical "explanation" video. The only thing I think that could use explanining is the rolling of the first silk. I have small dowels in the bottom corners of the Princess Silk. They are 2" wide and they are taped to the silk. I use these to roll the first silk. Because the dowels (you can also use tubing) are 2" wide they don't affect being in the large change bag. The trick comes with a set of instructions that are 6-pages long. This is way more than most other tricks you buy. Thus I felt these instructions explained everything you would need to know. If you have any questions about the trick feel free to write to me at david@sillymagic.com. Thanks, David Kaye

Hi David , I must say that I do not own the trick, however I think that what you have done is very unethical and in many ways an outright fraud . Really if there is no need for a DVD you should never have offered one ! To make an offer and not follow it up after you got the cash is simply wrong . However you try to justify it Phil

Pbj100 - why are you responding, surely this is between the purchaser and seller?
reading through the the texts above it seems most purchasers have been using the routine for quite a while without any further info being required. David has publicly apologised and given a web-site address to view his routine that can be watched at any-time without the dvd being required. He also gave an extra bit of info for those who might be struggling. Seems fine to me.

Hi, I am responding to what I see as a breach of trading standards . Just because I have not purchased the product . Does not mean that I cannot respond to poor business practice , it is theprinciple that I am taking issue with phil

Hi I have to say as well not sure what the big deal is. I was the one who pushed David to release the silks before he was actually ready to release it. I thought and still think it was the perfect prop for last years library theme. Now I use the his silks with my routine that I came up with in every family show I do. I think he attended to release a DVD but like he said what he would have put on it was already available on his web site. He asked several performers if they would put their routines on the DVD and honestly no one wanted to put their personal routine on there as I think we all agree that coming up with your own routine is far best. He did include a lenghty 6 page instruction sheet with the silks. So IMO the DVD would have been a waste and redundant. Also those that got on board early recieved the set of silks for BIG discount. So sorry Phillip I don;t see a breach of trading standards. But someone did mention earlier, if anyone has a set they want to part with let me know and I will buy them from you.

Hi Ken , I am sorry but if you do not see that making an offer in an ad then not delivering what the customer paid for as a breach of trading standards or as poor business practice then I worry for your customers , however I am not going to argue the point , I will leave it at that Phil

I am the person who started this Topic and was very upset when I had learned that there was not going to be a DVD. There are two things to take into consideration and that is we all make mistakes and we learn from them. I truly believe that David has learned from his mistake. And the second lesson is that he was going to charge us $ 250.00 for the Silk Set and he did not as he sold them for $ 195.00 so we saved a good chunk of change. Now if we had paid the $ 250.00 and did not get the DVD then that would be an issue to take up with David and his Ethics. I believe that David is an Ethical Person that tried to get a very GOOD Product out to those that Perform Library Shows so that our shows would have added value. And you have to admit that there is not much to do with the silks but present them the same way Ken Scott or David did on the Video Link that was provided and can also be found on the Website. This is an AWEESOME Effect and the price could have been much higher.
I think it is time to let this go and give David a break. We all deserve a break from time to time and I think this is his time for a break. David has put out some of the BEST Material on the Market that we have today. So please, I ask let this thread go and lets get on to planning our next show. Rodney

I bought Princess in a Pickle... it's a fun trick and the instruction received were adequate. BUT... I think if you promise a DVD then you deliver a DVD and, if you subsequently decide not to do a DVD for whatever reason then you either pick up the phone or e mail the people to whom you made that promise and explain why; you don't allow them to find out through hearsay on an internet forum... that's just bad manners.
