Ok shall we try again?
Who would you like to session with? Lets include magicians that are working and performing today. Also magicians doing lectures and writing books and doing DVDs. Including working restaurants and formal close up shows. And why??? My list would be I would want to session with - over and over again - today would be Ricky Jay, Vinny the Godfather and Rannie Raymundo aka the Boss. I think what both of these guys do is great - but also they are well off the beatin path. Very entertaining and their magic looks and is very different from other close up magicians - and to me that is a cool thing. Also Harry Lorayne besides being a legend in magic I still do a lot of Harry Lorayne material in my act. Also Jimmy "Cards" Molinari - because he is one of the best performers with a deck of cards. And also Terry Veckey who I consider to be the finest close up magician performing today. Who would you like to session with and why? Hopefully we can post and not get into the name calling that seems to happen often when-ever I post a topic...

Eric Jones- His skill with coins and how smooth he is... I want to be a smooth black man when I grow up.
James Brown- To master the art of misdirection. Jeff Hobson- he does a Vegas show with an egg bag, rope, and other little things. That’s how you entertain. Arthur Trace- his original thinking and twist on classic plots is inspiring. A true Artist. Luka

Charlie Frye, Greg Wilson (the close up guy, not Mark's son), Joshua Jay and Doc Eason. Glenn, if you're up for the detective work you and I can get together with Shane Dekens and Ken Tazzeler (sp?) from the Old Chicago Magic shop. Billy would be smiling down on us.

Carney, for the sames reasons Philip mentioned.
Chad Long, cool material and plots. Mullica, not just a funny magician, but one of the funniest humans on the planet. And MASTER of timing. Ricky Jay, although IF it were ever to happen, he'd probably smack me with a shoe or something. "You call that a pass?" Now, on the other side of the coin, who are some of the coolest cats you've actually sat and sessioned with. Not attended a lecture, actually sat across the table and traded moves and tricks. Eric Jones, BEFORE he was so well known. (Love ya E!) Not sessioned, but actually sat with David Regal and Teller at a competition once. Now THAT was an education! But probably the biggest one is probably when Alan Ackerman sat down where a bunch of us were showing stuff, introduced himself and asked ME to show him a trick. The biggest moment in my career.....I got "the nod." |

Jerry Sadowitz. Even though he'd make me cry and hate myself. Pop Haydn. Not Whit Haydn - Pop Haydn. Ponta. I'd love to see his stuff in person. |
