Toru Suzuki is unique. His 1st effect (Crystal Cleaver), went on to become Tenyo's all time greatest seller. I have not checked the status of this claim recently, but I sincerely doubt if any other effect has dethroned its 1st place standing from the mantle. My research indicates that Crystal Cleaver is also the effect that initiated most Tenyo collectors to collecting by a huge margin. Mr.Suzuki somehow appears to have circumvented the usual apprentice time needed by most inventors to find their niche. It's like he debuted as a pro. He is also unique in the fact that over a 3rd of his effects are not from the 'T" series. Excluding Crystal Cleaver, what is Toru Suzuki's 'T' series best effect in your opinion?
T-155 Crystal Cleaver T-157 Illusionarium/Transpa Vision T-161 Parabox (Lubor Fiedler's effect, but Toru's contribution of the sponge routine was huge) T-162 Credit Slasher T-166 Oh No! Future Clock is a brilliant effect and for some reason little done.

No one digs Suzuki? Not the environmental guy, the inventor.

Illusionarium is one wich were impossible to figure out for me before buy the trick. It's so simple in fact but very good. I like the idea of Funnel Vision.

Is Toru Suzuki lesser known? I truly think Crystal Cleaver, Illusionarium, Parabox, Future Clock, Trisector & Magic Painting are the equal to Hiroshi Kondo's & Shigeru Sugawara's output in quality of effect. Nobody sees it this way?

I agree 100% Inert. I think Suzuki's output represents the best things I love about Tenyo.... Clever Ideas and Innovative props. They have not all been winners but his batting average is very good!

Toru just appears to be under-esteemed & under-recognized somehow in general. I've never understood why. It's like he went under the radar by being so good so fast in his career.

You're missing one of Suzuki's best items from your list, which is a routine with a set of tiny Linking Rings that Tenyo put out a few years ago. Haven't seen them for sale for quite a while. It's really a beauty.

Hi Richard
Totally agree that the Tiny Linking Rings are high quality. I did not add them to the above list as it is not a 'T' series mainstream item. From what I've seen, most performers choose to combine this with the Tenyo Miracle Ring as a routine. Flows nicely. |
