Okay, is it my imagination or is Jeri Sanatala's rope nightmare the same or similar to Awakening?

Doesn't sound like it, Sanatala's sounds like a very stripped down non-entertaining magic trick. I really do not see the point of stripping down a trick to its simplest form. Then there is no entertainment value, it may be a trick, but an instant "so what" trick. I think people will just lose interest and walk away.
Awakening has structure and movement to explain, that I did not read in the Sanatala posting you referenced. Could just be poor trick write-up. Without a video reference, can't say. Why use a gimmick, when the original does not use any gimmicks. Now you have preparation and set-up time, where the original, you only have to pick up 3 pieces of rope. Magicians, why don't you buy it from the guy and let us know, it is now only $13. I am sure you need it for your rope trick collection, anyway. |

I am not talking about Ron Dayton "Nightmare the awakening", I am talking about Dan Harlan's lecture piece which is basically the same effect (Dan repeats his 3 times). I am looking for someone who has either. Yes, I agree, both tricks are "so what" except for magicians who seemed thrilled at any nightmare deviation.

Magicians, I was refering to Harlan's as a comparison. Ron Dayton stuff is so old, who remembers it. Just sayin!

Santalas magicians nightmare is something totally original method wise. Its not really for lay audiences, just to mess up with magicians. It also isn't really that practical... one would have to use it as an opener really (this was told to me by Jari himself). I don't think it has been on the market for years. Only one patch was made and sold in the past.
