Hello Jim!
I am wondering if you perform any IT routines/effects for your restaurant guests? If not, what would be your reasoning? If so, what would be good effects for IT table-hopping? Magically, - - Troy

The only invisible thread work I've ever done is using the Finn Jon loops many years ago. I love watching IT magic; it's just that none of the effects fit my performing character at present.
However, if I were to do IT work, I would definitely use Jon LeClair's methodology. I think it's the best for the strolling venues as the hook-up is all self-contained. |

Jim;
Thanks for your reply!! IT effects fit into my personality, but for some reason, I don't perform them much when table-hopping... usually only once per night (many times, there's just too much going on in the restaurant.) Again, thanks for your advice, - - Troy

Hello Jim,
I don't know if it's polite to jump in on the conversation here, but I would be very interested to know how you would describe your performing character these days, as well as why IT effects do not match it. (I know that may not be easy to articulate.) The reason I am interested is that your answer might provide a clue as to how to identify my own performing character and guage what effects are outside its range. Thanks for your time. alleycat

Most of the effects in my restaurant repertoire these days tend to be comedic and more of an involving rather than "watch this cool thing" for the audience. This isn't to say I would never do IT work in a restaurant - I have - but my act has evolved to a point where I can't see my character performing any of the IT effects that are most familiar to all of us. Who knows...this may change someday.
I dropped the Rising Cards for similar reasons but may go back to that if inspiration hits for a consistent presentation with the rest of my work. |
