Well it sounds strange to be talking about this topic now. However, since november is when marketing should really be started to land your scout shows, I ask who has started their new marketing materials or obtaining their leads list?
Now is the time to start getting those materials together, visit your scout councils and be ready to start marketing heavily in November. So what are you doing for this year's scout marketing and shows? Kyle

Believe it or not, but scout and blue and gold marketing is right around the corner. You will want to have your list together and be ready to start your marketing as soon as November 1st comes around. this is the ideal time to start sending information out for maximum impact.
Let me know if anyone has any questions and how you have been doing so far? Has anyone gotten their lead list together? Does anyone need any help on how to go about it? Kyle

What is the best way to compile a lead list? Where do you find the address info?

Mike: Great question. There are many different methods but the best is simply through a defined Google search. You can usually find that a LOT of cub scout packs have their own websites or websites set up through their local scout council. By doing a search with keywords like "Cub Scout Packs in (county)" you usually will come up with a really good listing. From there you go to the websites looking for contact information. You want mainly the scout master and/or assistant scout master. You might also want to look for a banquet chair if they have one listed. Take this information and enter it into a master Excel sheet. This becomes your list you can add to and update year after year. Works really great.
Do not ask the scout council for contact information. They are not allowed to give it to you. However, I do have a great way in which to really use the scout council to your advantage. Joe: The best course of action is to contact as many scout packs as you can. The reason is that each scout pack holds their own blue and gold banquet. The more you send out, the more chances you have of working multiple events. Leland: thanks so much my friend for the kind words. I do appreciate it. Kyle

Kyle,
What's the best way to contact the packs? Email snail mail phone? Thanks, R |

Great question. I have found the best way to contact the packs is through email marketing. The packs are used to receiving communications this way from folks within the pack as well as from people who may want info. To join their cub pack.
I update and maintain my cub pack email lead list throughout the year and make sure that I am ready to go the first week in November. This is the time I will start my marketing to the packs as banquet planning usually begins at this time. I hope that answers your question, please let me know if I can elaborate more for you or answer any other questions you may have. I also do cover a lot of this in detail in my book for those who might be intersted as well. My pleasure. Kyle

I will echo the positive comments about Kyle's book. I bought it as a PDF file directly from Kyle.
He covers everything ... how to find out who the scout leaders are, ways to get their contact info and get your material to them, boy scout lingo, ways that a blue/gold show might differ from your regular show, etc. It is great! |

Karen,
Thanks so much for the kind words. I do appreciate it. The book was written as a means in which to help others get into a market that many shy away from. It is a great market and one that anyone can do to increase income usually during a slower period of the year. If I can be of any help to anyone about this market, just ask me here. I would be happy to answer anything for you. Kyle
