Hello,
I am wanting to find out the person who have thought of this routine so that I can credit them in something that I am working on and ask their permission to use the idea in the way that I want, if they are still with us. It isn't the routine that I am after, but how the little simple idea of having the word selected. I want to use half of the idea in another effect. The original routine that I read about a few years ago goes like this......... A person rips a newspaper into strips and let's the pieces fall to the floor. They then pick up a few slips and hands one to the performer. The performer holds the slip of paper by the edge/top and ask the person to close their eyes. They are told that in a moment when asked to open their eyes, they are to open their eyes and look at the slip of newspaper held by you and the very first word that comes into focus is the word they are to concentrate on. They only open their eyes for about two to three seconds because you tell them to once again to close their eyes. This is a VERY fair and simple test and I want to only use half of the idea of how it is done. I would very much like to get or not get permission and or credit the person. Those in the know feel free to PM me. I don't want to discuss how it is done on an open forum. Best Ray |

Barrie popped to mind first here too. The idea I think you are talking about is in one of his first two books. Not near my library or I'd look it up for you.

Will send contact info tomorrow if you still need it.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

Barrie is a public figure, so you should be able to contact him easily. Google his name and you'll have some leads.
