Qua-Fiki uses what he calls a "Bigger Silk Routine" with his Sneaky Fiki Production Box in The Wizards' Journal #18. He starts with a single 12 inch silk and gets the kids to shout "BIGGER!" before going on to produce an 18", 24", 36", 45" and finally a six foot silk. You can catch his act on the video there.

I used to do an expansion of silk. A 36" silk was put in a top hat (previously collapsed) and changed into a matching 6' silk.

I produce silks, etc., from a set of Kuma Tubes, ending with a set of umbrellas, a 40x12 streamer, a six-foot tie-dyed silk, a 36" P&A butterfly, and a matching 6-foot P&A butterfly. When my children were small, this was followed by the production of a child from behind the 6-foot butterfly.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

Before Peter's death, P&A made not only exceptional 6' silks, but several great props inclusing a clear mirror tube, Genii Tube (uses 2 - 6' silks) and Space Voyager, I still have the Genii Tube and the Space Voyager I used in my acts bug am slowly getting into the position of having to sell them since I cannot perform larger stage magic anymore,
These were expensive, well made props that were very hard to come by -- and the mirror tube can be seen in use on the Jeff McBride stage presentations instructional videos. GC

I would highly reccomend using a quality Crystal Silk Cylinder to transform five or six variously colored smaller (12, 15, or 18 inch) silks into a huge 6 foot square silk comprised of the colors of silks that went into the tube.
In essence, it's a Crystal Silk Cylinder Blendo Routine that's simple, elegant and beautiful...nice magic that audiences appreciate... I would also HIGHLY reccomend Getting a Silk Cylinder from Marty Hahne at Dazzling Magic.....GREAT props and Marty's a great guy... His Crystal Silk Cylinders are NICE. |

Marty's tube is great but go the Test Tube Bunny. I used to do the same thing but used a triple weight 8 momme 90" to produce a CEO.
Also Jack Chanin's silks at your fingertips gives some great tips on barehand productions of the six foot silk. Peter White's Genii tube held two 6' silks. Abbott's made one about the same size at one time but it only held one six footer. Good to hear from you Greg! Richard
