Many of my treasures are in labelled Rubber Maid boxes stacked in plastic shelving. I feel sorry for whoever has to deal with my estate. There are boxes with labels like "Sticks and Wands", "Stage Hands" (for plastic hands, fingers, etc.) and "20th Century Silks". Others will contain props for whole routines or shows by color like "Red, White and Blue" or "Traffic Safety".
Some others are "Curtain Parts", "Card Silks", "Chemicals", "Glasses and Bowls", "Stuffed Animals", "Music", "Eggs", and "Candles and Fire". Scheme! Bob |

I have a huge collection, but when I had kids a few years ago I slowed down my purchases drastically. I still have a ton of great stuff and buy often. However I find that I have become a huge advocate of impromptu magic. I will buy anything that says it has impromptu tricks. It saves a bunch of space when you go out. Being an amateur I hate when I get in a situation and am asked to do a trick, but have nothing. This solves both problems!

What do you all do ? I am a chaplain at the local NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC and I carry in my pocket a four coins across trick with several rubber bands around the container and several pocket tricks in my wallet. I change the pocket stuff from time to time. I do these for several of the veterans from time to time.............. so many of our veterans have dementia or some other mind alteration illness that magic is useless to do as close up. I also do platform tricks in a stand up fashion every now and then as a magic show. Most of the magic I now have is stored in a shed out back of our house -- it has been trimmed down to stuff I use, I gave 2/3rds of my stuff to my son Robb several years back.

I have quite an organised study dedicated to my many hobbies - magic included. I dedicate a number of large shelves to books/DVDs and props - sorted into comedy/kids magic; pub magic (scams, coins and betchas); cards; and mentalism & bizarre. I have a box as a card graveyard, separate stationary placement, and various containers for other stuff. Specific tricks/routines often get their own zip-lock bag.

Bowers>>>>>How do you do that most wonderful of magic tricks that you have obviously mastered???!!!! Yeah. The one where the kids actually move out! I would like to try it on a 40-year-old and a 30-year-old. Is there an instructional DVD out, yet?
