You won't go wrong on these tapes. They are one of the best teaching tapes in the area of card manipulation. I would suggest getting the DVDs instead because of the huge volume of materials inside. And Jeff McBride himself is a very good teacher. Clear solid instructions

I will second Mr. Tong's assessment. Jeff McBride is a very good teacher, and his videos are excellent. The reason some people have been disappointed with The Art of Card Manipulation is two fold: the material is definitely platform magic and not close up, and the material requires LOTS of practice. But if you want platform card manipulations, and you're willing to put in the practice, The Art of Card Manipulation can't be beat.

These are OK if you like cards. Most magciians prefer to work with tigers.

These have some of the best card sleights I have learned on them for stage manipulation and otherwise.
Volume one has great beginner maniplation sleights to get you started, as well as a full close-up routine that is killer for loud areas since there is no need for much patter. Volume two has a bunch of incredible sequences and small routines for stage manipulation. Including glove and silk manipulation, this material cannot be beat. Volume three has some very difficult material on it, but the quality still is at its best. This has more sequences as well as some very hard yet extremly startling effects and manipulations that are sure crowd pleasers. Like rgranville said, most slieghts on these videos do require a lot of practice, yet it is all worth it when you see yourself in a mirror or on tape producing cards out of nowhere like a pro. Hope this helps, Evan |

Hmmm, I just got mine today!!! Watched through vol 1 and 2. It seemed pretty good, I just can't imagine how I'm going to practice those crazy productions when hands can't even conceal a poker card!

Well, there are ways around problems with the size of your hands. Sure it helps a lot to have big hands, but it is very possible to do all (or most) of the productions with smaller sized hands.
A few tips though:

I have volume 2 and whether you want to learn just a couple flourishes or many, these are what you are looking for.

It's very good! Great for card manips! Plenty of things there and should be in every cardmans library.
The teaching style is very good, but not as in depth as De'vo(detailed visual instructions w/repeated behind views), Ammar(super sessions w/repeated behind views), or Daryl for that matter. But it is still very good. |

I disagree with the whole using bridge cards, if your hands are really that small, and I doubt it cause my hands are as small that even a bridge card can be seen if palmed.
if your backpalming, the card will be in a curve type of way so no matter what it will be concealed. I do back palms with huge index paper and it works. if you are doing fan productions....< that's gonna take you a year to get down ( where you don't flash) theni would reccommend bridge |

These videos are still my best purchase ever. I just did my card manipulation act on stage Saturday night and it was killer. Thanks Jeff! (thanks go to Tony Clark too!)

I know I'm just adding to the large amounts of praises, but the art of Card Manipulation was the first magic taching set I got and it spoiled me. I cant have anything that's not as good as Jeff's teaching style and detail after that.
