Man,
The beggar coins are FANTASTIC. The set is so good and well made. My friend actually bought the last set that I've seen in a while at a convention for only $12! I was soooo mad. Seriously, these coins are worth every penny. They look beautiful and the ES fit like a dream. |

I bought a set when it was originally released (in the 70's I think) and played around with it but never used it professionally. If you want to perform the effect, why not use quarters or halves (with shells)?

I was using the coins for effects such as translocation, shadow coins, shell coins across..you get the idea.

The coins also work fine for Troy Hooser's Charming Chinese Challenge.

The beggar coins (pseudo-Chinese with shells) I have are poorly made. They look plain, and the coin/shell fit on one coin is off. I bought a newer set from Hocus Pocus that are much nicer looking coins. In fact, I did a review of these coins, which can be found either here or in the product review section.
I use these for my version of "A Charming Chinese Challenge" (found in my book, "As the Crow Flies"). |

And now they are not there any longer. Hopefully the new version have better looking coins. Still, the routine is great. It's worth buying. Quote:

The book is available from either from Great Scott's site or Hocus Pocus.
Personally, I think my handling is cleaner (there is no extra coin), and the trick has a complete presentation with audience involvement. I use it at the restaurant all the time. Post or PM me if I can be of further help. |
