I'd have to agree; there is a much larger pool of effects using a [. I've got a FLPR/[ set coming in the mail, and there are some effects you can create using 'both', but again, the overall pool of available effects I think would come with a [. There are some resources regarding a FLPR, and I'm positive someone will comment on those shortly.

To me personaly I prefer the shell.but there are
some who will feel the opposite on this.a combination of both can be very deceptive in a effect. todd |

[. There are hundreds of things you can do with it. A |/ is a bit of a one-trick pony - it can cause a coin to vanish in mid-air, sometimes even in the audience's hands, and it's kinda examinable. Now, that's a great trick - but it's just not as flexible or as deceptive as a [.
With a [, you can add it on to a stack of coins that have been inspected/in the audience's hands. You can steal it away in the same way, leaving everything inspectable. When separated, you can show the coins truly separate, which you can't do with a |/. There are some great routines for the |/ - Craig Petty's "empowerment" is a good one - but it just feels a little limited compared to the scope of a [. If you really are in the position of having to choose one over the other, definitely go for the [. |

There is a "World's Greatest Magic" DVD on [ that includes some classics as well as some other interesting effects. It's maybe not the 'best', but is a way to get started. I've never seen any of David Neighbors' publications, but I know he has a lot with practically any coin gaff.

If I can give you a piece of advice, learn classic routines first. For example David Roth's coin across.
As far as I'm concerned I really liked : Dean Dill extreme dean an extantion of me (Eric Jones) Destroyers (Troy Hooser) Coin 1 and 2 (Homer Liwag) rhapsody in silver (Micheal Vincent) These are my personal preferences but as said before there are tons of stuff available. |

Actually someone posted here somewhere that it is actually good for taping behind your lapel as David Roth does for some routines. Otherwise, it is not made of metal - some sort of molded plastic - and everyone I have spoken with who has one says the same thing - it is too small and coins get stuck in it easily. Jim |

Considering the dvd is worth 15 dollars I would say 5 dollars
isn't bad for a shell to learn with. todd |

^J-Mac is correct. I had problems with that shell also. The DVD is worth it.

What you need is one of those killer sets with a flipper, a shell and an expanded shell! [[|/

Their use is not interchangeable. In my opinion the[is more flexible while the [/can be more deceptive. It is matter of what you want to use it for. I don't know your level with slight of hand. The Shell is easier to work with. Jones, Petty, and Hoosier have large volumes that will show you some of the uses of the flipper. Neighbors has at least a thousand uses LOL😏. Figure out what use you have, what you want to do with it. Then when you can,
get both, in combination they are deadly.😈 |
