You may already be aware of my interest in the Jack the ripper, and a love of anagrams as well.

You may also be aware that I suspect Jack may have been one of Mary Kellys brothers.

One was said to have served in the2nd Battalion Scots guards.

A James Kelly is recorded as having the service number 7734. If this number isinverted it becomes the word hell. This is interesting in the way it plays into the from hell letter.

Now for the debaters and potential haters among you, please bear with this line of thought a bit longer.

We do not know thhis soldiers middle name.

Here is where we come full circle to my love of anagrams.

THe name this killer identified himself as was Jack the Ripper.
hough I had not realized it earlier, JTR is an anagram which reads;

P. J. Patrick here.

Does the P. stand for private, and the J. for james?

Was 7734 actually Private James Patrick Kelly? Mary Jane Kellys murderer.

Had his identity been in full sight all along, concealed within an anagram and inverted numbers
there in the letters he sent to the Metropolitan police??

Doc Steve, on the Ripper casebook site,it is noted that Mary Kelly told friends, her brother 'Henry' was in the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards. But there is no Henry Kelly listed in the roster records.

But, Mary Kelly also mentioned refering to Henry by his nickname, Johnto , which is interchangable with the name James. Henry and James Patrick Kelly may well have been one and the same person.

In the UK it's slang to refer to any Irishman as "Paddy" regardless of first name.

VERY clever! This talent for anagrams remains amazing and inexplicable to me, as I seem to have none of it.
Thanks for sharing this on a public forum, tho I am a little surprised you didn't save it for a future book--?

Taking things to yet another step.

The words From hell, is an anagram for 'he'll form'.

by inverting the letters hell you get the numbers 7734 as mentioned earlier.
If these numbers are are spelled out, they become seven seven three four.

Looking for an anagram within those four words, you get :

Fenner House serve vet.

what does that mean exactly?

I do not know at present, but perhaps someone here can shed som light on this.

Were members/ vets of the 2nd Battalion Scots guards housed or assisted at fenner House?

Did VET stand for Victorias Elite Troops?

If it does theanagram could beread to say;

Victorias Elite troops serve Fenner house.

We are nearing the demise of this thread it seems.
In retrospect, I have may have pushed the anagrams a bit too far.

The service number 7734, was a military choice and designation, not the soldiers.

So looking for anagrams and meanings in seven seven three four was a real stretch.

Perhaps seen as a desperate move to give creedence to a theory / hunch.

But if we do not look/ seek answers, they will never be discovered.

one ironic element to this is the fact that the 2nd Scots Guards actually did take action/ were involved at Fenner House in the 1900's.

I do believe the other anagrams are viable.
