Hello everybody. I'm doing mainly close up card magic, but currently working on a trick which is very similar to DC's granpa aces. Can you guys give me any suggestion on how could I possibly get 3 cards under the last ace right after using technique "Shotgun Aces". Tried many slights, but all of them too suspicious, Gaff card will work fore me, as I will perform this trick on the stage in front of camera. Any comments will be appriciated.

Copying someone else's tricks that are still in performance - especially without permission - is not a nice thing.
In historical/pragmatic context: black velvet is more forgiving than newspaper IMHO. Anyone can copy. Be progressive.

He didn't say he was copying the trick, just doing one similar. It looks like he just used an add on move in the beginning with dupl***te aces.

If you do MCdonald aces, add and cut couple of things, then it's already completely different routine. And I do agree with you copying is shame. I have my own style to do it, similar concept, but different trick. |

I just do not know and cannot find any slight to place 3 cards from the top of the deck underneath the ace, in not a very suspicious way. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate.
Thanks Vlad |

The trick seems to be hofzinsers
THe useful gaffs are in the art of magic. A Phil pack and Science Friction might come in handy too. Few have done as well as Hofzinser. Mac was the one armed magician Vernon cited for the item in the 1960 book. The Power of Belief is easily abused.

Ben Train's recent item teaches a good technique.
Add that to the four for four switch...

Does Copperfield still do that routine?

Big difference in words. Sorry to be the English police, but I just like to see such an important word spelled correctly for the lovers of the art. You could consider the commercial "Dream of Aces" or if you are using Phoenix cards, you can use the super thin playing cards (double decker) to help you load them under the leader card. Good luck.

I really do not get the fascination over this particular routine. The presentation was amazing of course. Magically it is beautiful, but, so are many assemblies. David could have done any existing Ace assembly with the same presentation and it would have garnered the same excellent reaction from audiences. Maybe it is because it is close to 5 AM where I live, but I simply just don't get why this particular Ace assembly is more magical/special/splendiferous than any other.

The fascination is with Magicians because what David is doing isn't available to them and they want to get as close to what he's doing as possible, just because it's David. You can get close enough for jazz. |
