I have a selection of dice and have used this with them. Any thing between 3/4 and 1 inch dice works well. Currently I'm using Story Cubes, a die with 6 different colored sides, and a blank die with a sharpie. You could also use what comes with the effect and stick a sticker/label on each side and customize it that way. Tony |

Hey you guys read my mind! Not surprising I guess, but I was just creating a Cold War era ESP test lab device backstory to bide my time before my order arrives. Also the novel Dice Man may also have some possibilities, but that is just a brainstorm idea at this point.

My arrived a few days ago and like many of you, I played around with it quite a but before watching the DVD. The Secret is hidden in plain sight, much like Osterlind's wonderful Stainless Steel Blindfold. I rehearsed with the day 20-30 times, did some mirror work and then performed it during a stand-up show (I did not buy it for closeup) and it went well. It was an adult group of 50 people.
On Friday I'll be performing it for a school - I have seven 30 minute break-out sessions for around 40 people each that I'll be performing this for, so that will give me a chance to get more comfortable. The working is simple, the prop well built and the performance touches - where to look, acting, etc- are all great. BIG thumbs up. |

Had the opportunity to do this 7 times yesterday in a "parlor-type" situation. (Bear in mind I did not present this as a close up piece but as a parlor piece. My audience for each performance was about 75 6th grade students for 30min each - those of you in schools know that these middle school kids can be very challenging. This trick went GREAT each time.
I presented it successfully as a parlor piece by asking the volunteer to show the whole audience what number she was putting on top in the box as my back was turned - this afforded the whole audience to be "in" on the revelation, rather than waiting for confirmation from the volunteer (a mistake I made the first time I did the trick, I did not do this.) This helped 'sell' the effect to everyone even though the prop fits in my hand. Well worth the investment. |

Got my whispering die in the mail earlier today, and I mirror everyone's praise for this little box! Beautiful, simple, and works like a charm!

Sorry oldmagic009, but you could this exactly once! with the Whispering Die, I am able to walk around and do it over and over again, even for the one's that have seen it already. I do not know Joe Berg's Version, and it might be overhyped and overpriced, what ever "overpriced" means, but the fact is that I do not regret to have spend the money for this, which is not true for all the magic I got in 2012, and I do use it a lot, and I love it.

Couldn't resist, well it's Richard Osterlind after all. Ordered 2 hours ago and had an email to confirm that it's shipped already. I'm impressed before I've even received it!

I bought a 6 dollar game called Story Cubes at Target (apparently same name but different from above). the Story Cubes I bought are 9 dice X 6 sides, comes in a sturdy orange carry bag, each die has 9 different simple pictures. a hand, an eye, a tree, a key, etc. That's 54 simple pictures and a lot of elaboration potential. Just make sure you familiarize yourself with each picture from all angles. Lots of ways to go with this... Great keeper Richard, I'm having too much fun and once again getting a lot more credit and applause than I deserve. Peace, Charlie |

Looks like a post or two just disappeared above - a little sanitizing huh?
I don't know why as a I don't remember anything more than an honest review.

As I said, make one false move and you get deleted everytime ... there's nothing to expose regarding the Whispering Die, I was simply expressing my opionion about the final product and that it's overpriced IMHO ... God help me for opening my mouth.
