Hey, folks,
I got a nice reminder last night of the power of ventriloquism as a unique art form last night at a show I did. It was at a restaurant that was celebrating its re-opening after hurricane Sandy on the South Shore of Long Island. The owner invited 150 of his regulars for a free dinner and insisted the show start while people were eating (despite my warning that he'd have to Hemlich patrons who choked while eating and laughing). I was hired to perform along with a singer/comedian, a magician, and a stand-up. I went last. The other performers could not even get the diners to pay attention, much less laugh. People were there to eat and talk with their friends, not see a show. I was going to do my cheeky boy Oscar and Mrs. Lucille Goldman but decided (after the other performers had been ignored for the past hour) to just bring out the heavy artillery--Lucille. I'm proud to say that within 20 seconds the diners stopped eating and talking and became an audience! The folks at the bar stopped watching the Ultimate Fighting Championship on the big TV and turned around to watch me and laugh. I got very nice applause from the crowd when I was done and a big thumbs up from the owner. Man, do I love vent!! Bob |

That's great, Bob. Not only is that an attestation to the art of vent, but also to your talent.
