I love monkey fists for cups and balls but I can't waste time tying them myself. I buy mine from Monkey Knuts here: http://www.monkeyknuts.com/Monkey-Knuts-......gic.html at $19.95 for 4 of the 1-1/8" balls I couldn't imagine spending a few hours tying these myself. I have purchased two sets from them, orange and now neon yellow. They have 3/4" steel ball bearings in the center and weigh 34 grams. They also offer a larger size and will also custom make balls to your standards if you contact them.
I have posted about these before and just thought I would mention them again. Here are my new ones |

Magic is a vanishing Art.
This must not be Kansas anymore, Toto. Eschew obfuscation. |

When I was in the Navy I used to tie these around a hunk of lead half the size of my fist for heaving lines.
I don't think I would enjoy attempting ones so small with fiddly little cord. May patience be with you. |
