I finally did it. I went out and bought a dvd player and a new tv. I've been watching vhs on my little 12 inch television for so long. Then my picture tube blew out. I was up until 3 am watching all of the Indiana Jones movies on dvd. Ah yes, the true opiate of the masses.

Ok welcome and happy viewing !! I just got my dvd player a couple of months ago. Imagine having a small collection of magic dvd's sitting on your bookshelf that you could'nt watch yet (i.e. Ogawa and Apollo's Cultural Exchange, Pinnacle, etc). I was torturing myself by the time I finally purchased the darn thing.
That reminds me of something else, I think we are taking the whole electronically activated everything concept way too far. But I digress, reserving this particular rant for another more specific thread topic. GlenD

Don't feel bad I've had my dvd player so long that my step daughter told me it's out of style already

Welcome to the future Mark. Your next major purchase just might be a DVD burner. I will be getting my DVD burner as soon as I get through the Christmas season. I have so many VHS-C tapes of my daughter just waiting to be transfered to a more stable medium. No matter how well you take care of video tapes, eventually they will get ruined. With care DVD's will last at least 100 years but can be duplicated many times before that, so basically, DVD's will last as long as you want them to.
