Would it be difficult to find glass tears? Clear epoxy should look just as good.

Clear epoxy would look good, but you'd have to be careful having something like that close to your eye.
Glass normally reacts with very little, so any eye irritation would come just from having something in your eye. Epoxy, depending on what type, could react with the liquid in your eye and burn terribly. |

What difference does it make?
We can't expose methods on this forum, because it's public. None of us is likely to perform this bit, anyway? There are at least three different ways to do this item. One of them makes sense. This thing isn't rocket science!

You might want to try Surgical Reveal by Alex Lourido.

Just a reminder here: There are people who are unhappy and cut themselves. Such imagery as presented in this trick is far from wholesome and may trigger people with issues.

This effect is on the market I got it on a news letter on a magic email site its just been released on the u.k market exactly how Chris performs it, its called Surgical Reveal by Alex Lourido.
A coin is signed by a spectator and swallowed by the magician. The magician then goes into detail about the ancient Indian practice of meditation, and it's ability to slow down the heart rate and block out pain. He then pulls his sleeve up to reveal his bare forearm, removes a surgical kit, and begins to make a deep incision into his arm about two to three inches long! He pries into the wound with his surgical tweezers, revealing muscle tissue and other inner workings of the arm, as he continues to focus and meditate. Suddenly, he finds something deep within the self-inflicted wound, grabs onto it with his tweezers, and slowly removes it from the surgical incision. To everyone's amazement, it... is... the... signed... coin!!! it cost £42.

That's not EXACTLY as Criss performed it. When Criss performed it, you could see the lump from the coin as it travelled down his arm, and then he made a deep incision about 2 inches wide in his arm and pushed the coin out.
There were other things you could see on the show that tipped part of the method.

At least Chris is not doing the messiah thing like Blaine, or the over-the-top horror thing for that matter. As he performed it, it was wonderfully wierd first, then unsettling second.
The whole show is entertaining, although there isn't much of his that I would seriously consider wanting to perform myself.

I loved the special as it really demonstrated his unique artful approach. I look forward to seeing how his magic and personna will transform over time.

I was working at Universal when Chris taped a portion of the special in what was formerly called "Sting Alley" where the final Sting from the movie of the same name took place. It is now sometimes called the Chris Angel Alley. I work on the other side of the building most of the time. I also work with people from the "Horror Makeup Show". Is this just Horror Makeup shown as Street Magic?
Don't get me wrong...I like the guy. More power to him. I hope he makes a billion! But why not just have the makeup artists pull your heart out and then stick it back in. Torn and restored heart? Same thing. A "One Time" effect.

I would like to tell a little story. I am friends with Alex Lourido, since he owns a magic shop close to me. He came up with a different method than Angel for surgical reveal. He was mad at Chris for trying to make that effect look impromtu when it was played with in editing. Once Angel heard of Alex's effect, he began making harrassing phone calls to distributors, and to Alex himself. Let me just say that I know the method Chris Angel used and it could not be done for real people. Just watched on video. Alex's version is a real effect.

So what's the problem if Angel uses prothetics in his effect? the effect is performed EXACTLY as seen in the special. There was no editing. No need for that.

That's not true, there was editing involved! Also, Angel later admittedly used computer special effects to achieve his effect--that sucks!!! Alex Lourido's method is performed with zero special effects and right before your eyes, literally!
A magician isn't defined by how many tricks he knows, but how well he has mastered them!

When and where did he admit this? References would bolster your claim.

Back to the original question. There is now a similar effect from Arlen Studios except you pull the coin, card, or whatever out of your chest. You might want to check this out or even wait awhile and see if it gets any reviews here at the Café.
