Interesting. Also, in that prayer, is Forgiveness. If I forgive others their faults, I will be forgiven mine! A good 3 - 4 minute routine can be built around that.
And ya know...who hasn't had a problem with Forgiveness? One of the most difficult things sometimes. When I'm pointing a finger, saying, "but he, he..." I have three fingers pointing back at me! Sometimes, it's impossible to forgive. The offense so great, so grievous. Then what? Would you ask God to forgive them anyway? Could you? These questions can be used to illustrate in a very entertaining way, and still put a seed in the persons' minds. Things they will think about long after the show is over. A simple color-changing silk and the above...just one idea... Thanks Funsway! You got me thinking...and that is a GOOD thing! LOL! Doug |

Another way to look at the passage from the Lord's Prayer (from a phrasing standpoint...remember that NO punctuation was used in the original languages...it was all added by the translators) is the following:
"Forgive us our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE trespasses against us" One could look at it, as Dougini has already pointed out, that our sins will be forgiven IF we forgive others. One could also read it as God will forgive our sins IN THE SAME MANNER in which we forgive others. In other words, if we forgive others but with conditions, etc, we might be subject to the same. I don't want to start a theology argument here, so please let's don't do that...but just wanted to give an alternative reading to plant the seeds of thought. Mike

So, let's clear the air and be done with it sisters and brothers. I am the person who Danny chose not to name. There was a comment made about sola scriptura being the sole authority for our faith. Thta in itself holds true for some of us but not all. I posted two links to articles that discussed the inherent difficulties with sola scriptura. However, somewhere along the way I was accused of trying to proseltyze and to impose "my" beliefs on others . Now, I could reply quite correctly that the statement made that sola scriptura is in itself a statement of doctrine that does the same thing. But I wanrt to put a positive on this and PLEASE listen with your heart?
We all come from different traditions but, we all share a commonality in that we are Christians. We all believe as Christians certain non-negotiable truths and these are easily summarized: We believe in One God, we belive in One Lord Jesus Christ, begotten of the Father but not made. We believe in the Holy Spirit who is part of the Holy Trinity. Three Persons in One God that we as Christians worship. Unfortunately events happened in history that have separated us doctrinally. We cannot deny this tragic reality and it has played itself out here and not just in this thread; I had even seen it happen when I was a lurker. Yes I do bear my own responsibility in sometimes stoking the fires. But, I think it is unfair for one or some of my Christian brothers or sisters to place all of the blame on my shoulders. When the statement was made the sola scriptura is the only authority, that is also a statement of defense of one's faith. My links to the two articles were defenses of the faith to which I and approximately 2 billion others adhere. The very worst that happened was that two people defended their faith, which, we are called to do. How many martyrs have died in doing so among Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants? As I write those three words folks, I am pained by them because the pride of men separated us. There was, once a upon a time, one church. But, now we have many, and yet, Christ's promise that the gates of darkness shall not prevail is a promise we can all count on for our God never lies. So I publicly apologize to any I have offended. I do this not out of pride but out of humility. I am not perfect. I shall continue as a child of God to make mistakes. It is my hope that brothers and sisters offended will find forgiveness in their hearts. But, if that not be the case, then still I hold no malice for our loving God gave us many precious gifts, and among them is the gift of free will. If one chooses not forgive, I cannot hate my brother if he chooses not to forgive because he has chosen not to. It was never my intent to proseletyze; my faith does not do that. My response was made in good intention to a post made with good intention. It was not my intention to offend anyone. So I ask your forgiveness. But also in that spirit, I must address one thing: it was also stated that I never have tried to contribute anything except discord/ The link below was the most easily accessible. I do hope at least that this link will put THAT accusation to rest. While I do ask forgiveness, I will also ask my brother to re-examine his statement. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=16&10 So, in this, the season of the Resurrection of Christ Our True God for Western Christians, I offer the ancient greeting that Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen. In the East we are beginning Great and Holy Lent, and so in the spirit and humility of preparation for 4 May when Pascha comes and we in the Eas celebrate the Holiest of the Holy Days, I again beg forgiveness for any offense I am aware of and unaware of. +In Christ, Vlad |

Thank you, Vlad, for being humble enough (and man enough) to seek forgiveness. Of course, you and I have nothing to forgive of one another, as we basically agree on 99.7% of all of our doctrines.
I want to add that, at times, I have been guilty of stirring the pot. As a cradle Catholic who left for the world of evangelical protestantism while in college, then studied my way back to the most ancient of Churches, I am naturally passionate about what I believe. At times, that can lead me to defend her rather vigorously. For any offense I may have caused, I too humbly seek the forgiveness of my brethren in Christ. With the Paschal celebration now under way in the Western Catholic (and most, if not all, Protestant churches), it is time to come together to celebrate the One Lord. In just a few days we will be able to resoundingly proclaim together Alleluia! He is risen! He is risen indeed! Then, just a month or so later, our Brethren in the Eastern Rite Churches will proclaim the same! PRAISE GOD!
