In the Thayer quality magic instruction sheet describing the illusion, the temple of Buddha, it mentioned the method of producing writing on a blank sheet using the tube and chemical method. As it was in regular use at the time, it was not described. Anyone know of this method or where the instructions can be found?

I do not know this method, but when we were kids, we used to write secret magic messages on paper with lemon juice. We would let them dry, then hold the paper over a heat source (light bulb or candle flame used very carefully). The lemon juice would turn brown and the writing would magically appear on the page! I am sure there are other methods out there. Here is a link: http://chemistry.about.com/cs/howtos/ht/invisibleink3.htm
You can also take a wax crayon that is not colored and write on the paper. Then you take ashes and dump them on the paper and brush them away. The words you have written will magically appear! I use a crayon that is found in Easter Egg kits. You can also use a product called zipper slick. I guess you could also use a wax candle, but it is difficult to write with fine detail. Neither of these methods use nasty chemicals and they are really easy.
Wonder is very necessary in life. When we're little kids, we're filled with wonder for the world - it's fascinating and miraculous. A lot of people lose that. They become cynical and jaded, especially in modern day society. Magic renews that wonder.
