If heat is an issue, I suggest a vest and a short-sleeved collared shirt rather than a jacket. It maintains the look of "professional" without being sweltering.
Thin dress pants are a blessing in the summer... When I am unable to wear my standard magician ensemble, however (I dress in magic layers- baseline: top hat, 1st layer: dress pants and collared shirt with tie, 2nd layer: Vest, 3rd layer: suit jacket, 4th layer: long duster-style raincoat, 5th layer: cape, sixth layer: Tom Baker era Doctor scarf, 7th layer: USE YOUR IMAGINATION!) I just resort to the top hat with whatever I happen to be wearing be it swim trunks, kilt or hazmat suit. It clearly establishes me as a magician from the get-go. |

I can't add much to what has already been said, so I will just reinforce it! You can't go wrong with a suit, but remember what your character or look is. Imagine how disappointed a room of executives would be if Criss Angel showed up in a suit. They want to see Criss Angel.
