Hey guys, just wanted to share with you something I have been working on.
http://www.stevegreenmagic.com I hand wrote all the code you see on this site. Its still a work in progress. The sentances will not make any sense its what we call dummy text. Fake text while your designing so it does not destract from the design. The cartoon logo is not mine, I am getting LOOK Creative to design a cartoon logo of me. The video is not mine either just a magician video I found, I wanted to share that a video is going to go there. I will be making a promo video soon and it will take the place of the current video. But the website has a lot of neat features... Try dragging the corner of the window to shrink your browser, the website is responsive. IE it interacts with the size of the broswser. If the user were using lets say an Iphone, it creates a speical layout just for that browser size. Another feature is the moving stars, if your not using firefox or safari the stars don't move I believe, but if you are your in for a treat Anyways I still got a lot of work to do on it. I would love to know your thoughts and any suggestions/ features I would greatly appreciate them! |

Looks pretty cool I admit.
I do see a branding/messaging conflict: are you dark and mysterious (stars and background) or light hearted and funny (your cartoon representation). I would like to see this more clear. |

I like the lighter colors and the texture of the second one better. It would be extra cool if you do some kind of ufo or alien trick to match the ufos and alien city in the background

Scott Burton makes a really good point.
I like the second one better, it suits your style better.

Good point I should probably take that down since that is not my logo. I am having one made just like it , so while I was working I wanted to see what you thought about the website, and to give you all a general idea of what it will look like I used guys logo as a place holder.
I will take it down if it is a big issue .. Thanks for the heads up about that I think I have made the decision to stick with the lighter theme. It matches the cartoon playfullness of what the logo will look like |

I would suggest you be more creative with the names of your tricks. Bill to Orange would prompt today's audiences to Google the name and figure out your tricks.
I love the stars and light streaming, good and catchy picture. Says fun and professional. |

I'm on an Android phone running 2.1. Yes, there's still plenty of older stuff out there. The page looked decent, the stars moved. But all I saw at first was your first name and the phone number in the top right. As I pulled down, I saw everything.
Think of what might go on top to convince me you are worth scrolling down to find out more. Also, the video wasn't available for my browser. Consider putting in a direct YouTube or Vimeo link in the alt text in case the video doesn't show up. And yes, if that's not your logo and you do not have permission to use it, I'd recommend removing it immediately. There are potential legal issues. Same with the video. Going for mysterious?? If that *is* your logo, then I agree with Scott - you have a serious branding issue. If it isn't, please replace it with something a bit more in line with what you're considering. If all you wanted was comments on the layout and functionality of the stars, that's it. Can't give you anything else; nothing else works. You'd probably been better off waiting until you had your logo and at least one working link, and some kind of text, to ask for a review. Just my thoughts. Ed |

Is this a hobby site or are you a pro. If you are a pro and are going to use the site to sell your services I would advise loseing the moving stars. I do commercial sites for a living and one thing I have learned is to get rid on anything that distracts the visitor from the message.
Look at the two most successful ecommerce sites Ebay and Amazon. No frills on looks just in your face send us your money. Defining the purpose of the site will help determine how it should look.

Pretty JavaScript functions, but I'd second altmagic. Also your doctype is HTML5, but you're writing with <div>'s instead of <section> and <article>. Part of HTML5 is avoiding excessive use of <div>'s by adding new tags. Check out W3 Schools for the info on the new HTML5 standard. I coded my own website in HTML5, you can check out the source code for it to see it in use: http://www.paulbrownmagic.com
