Hello,
I was watching a deck review on youtube and at some moment the guy handled the deck face down and went through random cards, took one and said "this is the ten of clubs.. I'm puttin all my money on it" And it was indeed. I stopped the video and put it in full screen to notice that there is a little subtelty on the design of the back. Can you please give me some exemples of decks that include this kind of cards? The more discret the better ! Does this method have a specific name so I can google it? Thanks. |

Who cares about all those idiots that spent money on books and DVDs and time practising sleights and effects and rehearsing 'em in front of a mirror or a videocamera for days/weeks/years/decades????? Folks, we have another magician here, haven't we? Let's all salute him!!! |

@Ihop : thanks for your answer but I'm looking for a NORMAL deck which contains one special card that has a little something different (color fade, or design..) on the BACK, helping you recognize it from the other cards when you force it.
it's subtle and the spectator doesn't notice it. |

Dea7h, I am going to go out on a limb here considering your tiny amount of posts AND you nickname that you are attempting to troll based upon two threads that ran in the Worker's section. Why do I say this? Because if you have even a casual knowledge of card magic, you already know that there are MANY ways of accomplishing this. In addition you signed up for the Café knowing the rules about exposure here and yet the question you ask is an exposure question. So I will be a NICE guy and give you some advixce: call a magic dealer, tell him what you are looking for and actually buy a resource. You will be happy that you invested some time into your magic. Hey, you might even think - and I know this is WAY OUT - of shuffling a glimpsed card to a known position.

Bummer! I only know the name of the trick where it uses the seven of diamonds instead.

@Vlad_77 : do not stereotype please.
I'm indeed new to card magic but I didn't reveal anything. This is like mentioning the name of a sort of gimmick like a TT. I see everyone doing it on this board. We don't have magic dealers in my country. All I'm asking for is the name of this method so I can google it and find additional infos by my own. People can use PM if they still think this would be called "exposure". I know that I could add a hint on the back of my card using a pen or something. But again that's not what I'm asking for. Thank you. PS: didn't you also have a tiny number of posts when you started on here ? Is your nickname better than mine for calling me a troll just for it? |

Someone was kind enough to message me about this.
It's called a "MD", if anyone is looking for the same thing just send me a PM. |

There might not be any magic dealers in your country, but, you DO have the internet, and Penguin Magic has a help chat right here on The Café. PM is great and if you want to PM me, I do have a few ideas for you. Just to offer you another perspective on my post to you so you can see in some sense what mlippo and I were talking about: there have been through the years a lot of "magicians" who want information to be spoon fed to them, and your question was worded much like those questions. Unfortunately for all of us, your post came on the heels of a debate with a couple of hacks that simply place no value on their art. So, I apologize for some of my insinuations. I will not however apologize for discussing specific methods in an open forum. Mentioning a TT and discussing a specific method are vastly different things. Also, let's get back to the internet: you don't need to even contact a brick and mortar shop. E-books contain VAST amounts of information and a guy to contact to give you advice on downloadable e-bboks is Chris Wasshuber of Lybrary.com Also, L&L Publishing has gotten into republishing their great books into e-books and the prices are GREAT! Dea7h, The Magic Café also offers a Secret Sessions Forum once you post 50 or more HELPFUL posts. This is a way to prevent as much public exposure as possible when you have specific questions regarding secrets or routining. A very reasonable goal for a serious magician to attain.
We also use "code" here to minimize exposure. Such as "MD" for a certain deck of cards or the use of asterisks as in e******d s***l for the gaff coin guys to keep means secret and HONOR The Art. I hope this is helpful to you.

Man I feel like dea7h warmed over. J/K! Marlo had in one of those pamphlets sold by Magic Inc. in Chicago (cheap!)something called the "Imperfection Force." I think it was also in The Cardician. Maybe. It would be a serious misuse of the principle in my opinion but it could be done that way. Go study Marlo and Vernon too while your at it. Why not study the best? Go with Roy Walton too. I'm talking books here, not DVDs.
I do not intend to insult you. I appreciate there could be cultural differences at work. Where are you from? You say you are new to card magic. Do you have experience with other forms of magic? Any other performance art? Whatever, welcome. May your post here be the worst crime you ever commit against the high art of low chicanery. |
