I read both of them after my visit with Mr. Zajicek on his way through Montana. Pretty incredible stories.

Hey Jim Hand~
As a new guy on this show, I've been walking the midway, and getting acquainted for over a month. Good to see your name up in this "forum" (high class word for a mud show)! I knew Jim Zajicek from his first year out. I had been with Wayne Franzen in ''77. I was mainly out in front, bill posting, checking the lots, encouraging the sponsors, etc. If I got too far out in front,I would loop back and stay with the show for a couple days, as Wayne always could use extra help. I would work the front door, or make popcorn,or wash Okha. Whatever it took to keep it on the road. A year or so later, I booked some dates to fill open time. I think that's when Jim and I were there at the same time. Nice kid. In the early '90s, I had my trailer parked in Jerry Conklin's back yard in COLON. Jerry and I caught a little mud show near Colon. We walked on the lot and Jim had a little top with some freak thing in it. It filled out the midway, and put some extra $$$ in his pocket. He had the elephants and was a happy traveler! How have you been? Heard that you were under the weather. Hope all is well now! Down the road!

Hi. Dick, Glad to hear from you.
My health is doing great .Feel much better than I have in several years. A new doctor found the "root cause " of my problems and a new medication makes me feel like my old self again. Thanks for asking. Jim Z. has build a fantastic show out of that little "freak" thing. Just goes to shows what hard work can do. If you think that "mud show" Jim was on was little, you would think my show wasn't big enough to be tiny. Really miss the Frazen show. Wayne was another hard worker who built a fantastic operation. Sounds like you did your part. Take Care and see you around. |

Hey,Dick,
Her's a photo of a show I had out in the 90's...called it Russell Bros... Named it after my father, Russell...he had several shows out during the 30's and 40's..Played mostsly the Jersey Shore...Would sometimes play the SAME lot 2 or 3 times the SAME summer...People would come down from New York and Philly for a week or two on vacation, so every couple of weeks he could go back and have a different crowd...
