This is a routine I recently put together, I added electronics to a manual rapping hand and used a unique Anverdi liquid effect, also included my version of spirit writing...

In response to several inquiries the rapping hand was I believe by tressler - it was manual - I upgraded to electronics for my own personal use. The wine effect is one of Anverdi's best liquid effects - stack of rings - the appearance of wine is quite startling.

The wine appearance is a startling thing, I think there is a way to make it more spooky.

How about a quick backstory about whos cards those were... maybe the bellhops? or maybe the were found in a room where a murder happened, and the victivm is the first ghost???
I think the "stack of blank cards" should be replaced with just a single sheet (the stack makes it seem more like a "trick") if you can work that out, or have the stack of blank cards be printed as old business cards from the old hotel? And what if the word written was the spectators name? possibly naming the killer in the crooked card game from years past?(and the killers name was the same as your spectator!!!!) And you just need to blow make the key effect a little stronger, when I watched it the first time, I didn't realize what happened, maybe a backstory about who was holding the key, they were locked in a room and found dead with the key in their hand, maybe this person killed themselves and didn't want to be found, so they altered the key so it wouldnt fit into the lock. And it may be cool if the spectator held the bag by its string for the switch, it may be risky, but with good audience management, it could be done. It probably sounds like I didn't like your routine with all these ideas... but actually quite the contrary is true, I liked it alot, that's why I spent the time brainstorming a bit. And I apologize, after reading your original post, I see you didn't actually ask for advise or input, I misinterpreted you asking for "spooky clarification". Hope you don't mind. -sb |

I particularly like your story about the key and the suicide routine, one quick note though: There is no switch with the key, the barrel actually rotates and locks dead - excuse the pun! You cannot turn this back no matter how hard it is tried, it takes a special tool for preset to unlock this again - the is Viking's Psy - Key from about fifteen years ago. The back is ungimmicked.
