Here's an interesting article of the psychology of magic.
http://www.scientificamerican.com/articl......rd-magic It deals specifically with playing cards, but I'm posting it here because in the threads I've read so far, it seems the Spookies have a particular interest in the perception and cognition of a spectator. I am always curious as to "why" particular effects work as much as "how" they work. I also saw a talk by Teller, who was explaining how magic works to some scientists. Pretty interesting stuff. I think it's especially relevant because of how the stories and props of bizarre create an atmosphere to achieve a certain psychological state of the audience. Have you found any other studies like this concerning the psychology of magic, or have ideas about it? |

Very interesting Jon - I particularly like the difference between 'choosing' a card, and 'visualising' a card.
This simple instruction could well hold the key to improving a whole host of psy' for*es. Something to play with! Thanks

Yes! I thought the same thing about the difference between choosing and visualising. Just the fact that there is a difference in the first place is interesting. The mind is magic...
