I've seen Jerome perform. It BLEW MY F**ING MIND!! But then he hypnotized me to forget every single detail of the performance, I couldn't even tell you where the location was. Not sure if he does that with everyone, but the only thing he left me with was how I felt after the experience. MY GOD!!! Left me in tears and speechless. He's the real deal no doubt!
It occured to me at once that love could be a great illusion, that makes fools of brilliant thinkers everyday

Two Years Late
Kam: In the Internet age, simply you can not control your privacy, spectators film you and post on youtube. And with the hype that there was around that guy you don't think that there wll be a lot of clip of him performing? You can say to 5, 10, 20 spectators to remove the video from youtube (or other sites), but I simply can't believe that absolutely no clip exist. I think that who sells material at high prices shall in some way prove that the material effectively works for a performance, especially the stuff that JF release. Anyone out there have ever seen him live? |

Yes,it's suspicious that no video of his performing can be found,if he ever really perform for public, there should at least some clips recorded by spectator then put on youtube.
But consider his behavior, took the money then disappear without send the video to the buyers, maybe he is a smoke seller. |

A few years ago I asked Finley point blank if he had performance videos because I honestly wanted to see his approach as it was so different. He confided he had no performance videos, but he did refer me to a promo reel that were essentially spectator testimonials.
He is certainly self-promotional, as even a casual reading of most any one of his books will confirm. To repeat a previous post, the likes of Docc Hilford and Alain Nu claimed to have seen Finley perform live.

Or maybe, as he state, he actually performs for circle different from magician's/mentalist's...in effect, in little circles, with people you know, you can ask to respect your privacy.
In every case, the prices of the stuff he sells, are absurdely high. If there's people who are happy to pay those prices for ebooks, that's ok. More, such high prices ecourage piracy, probably 80% of people who's got JF ebook have purchased them from a pirate site. Anyway, people tends to create hype , that's a fact. I think he is a clever salesman, magic is a market where price are hystorically high and justified by the "buy the secret"/"money returns performing" concepts, which I think it's right. But who has paid 1000$ for his Taboo ebook, trusting him blindly, seems to me like the cult followers who donate their money to the leader. My Opinion. |

Out of curiosity, has Mr Finley ever stated his Reiki lineage?

Hes winding you all up. And hes good at it. I doubt originally if he was ever going to do a Penguin lecture. It was the old "give then take away" sales ploy. Known in hypnosis as frustrating the response in order to increase the response in this case want to buy his material.

I don't really own any of his material... but if he makes we all talk about him, he might know what he is doing!

He did announce that he decided to cancel his Penguin Lecture a long time ago.
Regardless of what's going on with him now, he does have some good material that is not crazy expensive. Thought Dial is one of my favorites from him. |

On Jun 13, 2015, MatthewSims Have you read the original by Sydney Omarr? If so, what has he added to it of his own, that improves on the original?? Thanks.

I've completely and utterly lost respect for Jerome in every way. Why? I learned more about him. That's all it took.
In my opinion the empower has no clothes applies very well here. Learn from guys like Looch and Colin instead you know they really work. In my opinion the only reason to not have any performance footage is that to do so would instantly undermine you're credibility and kill your brand and maybe that's why the appearances by mr finely were cancelled. The only performance I heard of his was some readings that made me laugh. Based on those I'd have a hard tim ever justifying buying his stuff. Time for his friends to jump on board here and defend him but ask yourself if they really do only mentalism like Looch and Colin. If not they're opinion isn't worth any more than mine is. |

I've said it here 10 times before so here is the 11th:
Never buy anything from someone whom you haven't seen perform. How difficult is that rule to remember??? Nimrod |

If there was such a rule, I probably never should have purchased any of Annemann's works.
I understand your point, but perhaps it should be worded a bit differently. |

There is no problem with a creator not being a performer - many of the finest ideas in mentalism have come from people who would be classed as hobbyists. The relevant point in THIS thread is that said author has very much given the impression that he's an astounding performer and insulted magicians and mentalists in general. I think there's an argument that such claims should be backed up rather than blindly accepted.

But once mentalists are selling routines and presentations, I wouldn't go near their product without seeing them perform. And as for Annemann, back in the days the market wasn't flooded with garbage. Actually 15 years ago, when I began my way in the art, the market was quiet reliable - products and reviews wise. Today I've found the only way to filter the junk is to check for a live performance (and this is just the first step). Nimrod , Israel |

That's a valid point, Nimrod. Publishers and editors of periodicals and books, as well as major dealers in magic, used to act as a filter that prevented a lot of junk from becoming widely available before the Internet and the easy self-publishing and eBook age arrived.
It wasn't perfect though, there was always a certain amount of crap that made it through anyway. But most things, especially books and manuscripts, were far more reasonably priced in those days, so when you got burned, it didn't hurt quite as much. On the other hand, their HAVE been creators of excellent routines and presentations who were less than stellar as performers. How many of you, for example, ever saw the late Al Mann perform? Similarly, there have been many noted playwrights who couldn't act to save their lives, and highly successful songwriters who were terrible singers. One obvious solution, of course, is for a creator to collaborate with a good performer to work out any kinks in a routine and, if necessary, to perform the routine for video demos, etc. |
