We're not hearing any of this in the UK, though no doubt it will appear as a documentary in the near future.
In principle, I'm against capital punishment, except in cases of child murder. And even then, I would argue that a much higher level of "proof" of the crime would be required, than "beyond reasonable doubt". I don't now if that's the standard required for conviction in the US, but it is in the UK. If the prosecutors can prove, categorically, that a person deliberately murdered a child, then I would definitely approve of the death sentence. Sadly, there have been so many instances where executions have taken place, and subsequently, new evidence has proved the innocence of the convicted person. The reason I don't agree with the death penalty for murders of adults, is that there is often the possibility of unknown factors, which might be at least somewhat mitigating. Certainly in this case, as I understand, the victim was well-known to the murderess. It's really impossible to understand the true nature of some relationships. "Crime Passionel" is surely something that can be comprehended by folks who would ordinarily find "cold-blooded murder" abhorrent and alien. I'll have to do some Googling, to read up on this case, it does sound absolutely fascinating. On the other hand, serial killers, who evidently murder purely for pleasure, deserve to be put to death. Even if they're clinically insane, I see no rationale for clemency. |

A producer I work with is already hard at work on a Lifetime movie about this. Not to worry - they're on the case!

Potty & Tommy
Not to worry my friends this bi*ch will be on TV for years to come. IMHO This is the most in your face premeditated murder that I know about in my lifetime. Jody is attractive, erotic, and evil to the core. She will be the face of a murderer for many years to come. Just like all Americans know who John Wayne Gasey is instantly Jody will become the face of the sadistic murderer from now on.

Ah the actual motive is revealed it was all out of a jealous rage coupled with the desire to become famous. Her smug smart ass answers all make sense to me now. She seems to be under the impression that life on this planet is all about Jody being in the spot light. Jody Arieas just may replace John Wayne Gasey as the face of evil in our folk lore.

Absolutely. Even if she's totally broke she's entitled to court appointed counsel. Defending herself, I think, is a reflection of her arrogance and indeed indicates that she now has a fool for an attorney.
