I just finished reading Richard Tenace's Act of Connection that was put out by Kenton Knepper's Wonder Wizards company. It is as advertised a full commercial act script from start to finish. From those of you working a commercial mentalism show which portions did you find most intriguing? Or maybe better said which segments will you add to your own show soon?
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

I just received an advertisement for this at 50% off.
I'm surprised that there is virtually no comments on this work, other than your post and Jheff's review.

I bought this a few years ago and love it.
It has been awhile since I read it, but it has always in the back of my mind because it is a great read. This is a book that also involves readings. A reading is your best out....... So you guys do readings? You will find his other book helpful. It is called S.H.A.R.E ......The Sherlock Himes Approach to Reading Everyone. The book opens with a nice monologue telling the audience what they need to know. Many people don't know what a mentalist is or what to expect. This short opening will answer questions that people have and set up your show. Will write more in a few. Ray |

No. I didn't read anything like that in the PDF.
I did write a review but was waiting for someone to post back on here before I offered the review. I will post it later today. Ray |

The opening is a psychological uhhhh bit.. Remember that I mention there are readings in this book? Because a reading is your best out. He emphasizes that the reading is more important than the reveal. There is nothing explaining how to do a reading. It is assumed that the buyer of this book already knows how to do it.
The next routine is pure mentalism. If you do not have experience in handling thinking on your feet this may not be for you. The first time that I read it, it impressed me because even though it seems that you are just asking simple questions, you are really leading the spectator to an answer. It will take a little practice and if a little jazz sounds cool, than this is a rocking routine. A spectator thinks of a card and the performer reveals it using a notepad so all can see his thinking. The 2nd routine uses 6 people and fills the whole stage. Think packs small but plays big. The performer uses all his senses to complete this routine. The 3rd routine the performer has two people draw, really doodle on a large pad. The performer then gives a reading from looking at the drawing/doodling and tells them the information that they were keeping from him. Routine 4 is a music (singing) bowl reading. Routine 5 is a blindfold tarot reading Routine 6 is titled 'World's Greatest Psychic'. This is for the kids that you may find in your audience and it seems that it will play well. There is a bonus after this and if you buy the book, you will find out what it is. This is a really good act but involves readings. If you do not do readings that skip this. You could still performed the routines without the readings, but why would you want to? If you are on Kenton Knepper's web site, then you must be a reader or really thinking about it. Bottom line is simply that I am glad that I bought it. The routine where you have to jazz a little stands out for me. And is why this book has always been on the back of my mind. Ray |
