. It is like going to a gourmet pizzeria and not wanting to eat the crust. Paul, this happens all the time. You say "eat it all or go to a different restaurant". Most people do not feel they have to eat things they way others believe they should, or just leave. I have never had a chef come to my table and explain that my steak was intended to be served the way he/she intended it to be enjoyed and that any other way is inappropriate and violates their creative interests. You are correct, to each his own. I do not wish to live in a place that lives as you believe it should be lived. I will eat my food and enjoy my entertainment as I wish to. |

Man, you guys really need to lighten up. I was just giving my opinion. Obviously I don't expect any of you to live a different way because of it. Just stating my opinion and the reasons for it.

The horrible limitations on what can and cannot be shown or said on broadcast television is one of the reasons that Network Studios are failing to win Emmies anymore. At least in the Drama Categories. Shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad are receiving high critical praise as they are able to tell adult stories in an adult manner. They don't have to be hobbled by dumbing down or weakening the content in fear of offending someone.

Ok, Paul and Payne, you are correct. Some do not like their works edited for TV. I stand corrected.
However, the ClearPlay option never technically changes anything. It merely 'filters' out certain unwanted things. The physical DVD is not altered in the least -- merely my perception of it. . . It must be magic! .

Sam, Charlie, and Scott,
Ok, the more I have thought about this the more I realize I am wrong. I don't want to be a hypocrite so I will admit I was wrong. I "edit" now and will in the future as my boys get older. I recently saw the film Flight and it opens with a long scene which didn't seem necessary. I was watching it with my wife and I fast forwarded through it. This is similar to what ClearPlay does. I have two boys one that is 3 months and the other 3 years old. If in the future, (when they get older and want to watch stuff that might not be appropriate) if they are watching something and it is inappropriate I may fast forward past that section which is similar to what the ClearPlay does. So I stand corrected the more I think about it. I guess for myself in general I try to be a purist and see the director's intent in his creative choices. For my family however I want to keep them protected until they are old enough to make an informed and mature decision of what they deem appropriate for themselves. So I am sorry, I was wrong. Best, Paul
