Let’s Go Dutch!
Fritz Alkemade where have you been all my life?? What a great DVD release from RSVP! As always Russ has been able to find yet another creative and engaging magician to release some of their working material. I was told about this DVD by Jeff Stone and I couldn’t agree more with his review of Lets Go Dutch. I just thought I would add my own opinions as well. First off you get RSVP’s trade mark production with great shots of the reactions this material gets with real world people. You get to see not only great performances but also the explanations are great! Fritz is like a cross between James Brown and a magician like a John Gustaferro or John Carey. In that his routines are very well thought out but he also has moments like James Brown that you have to be a little gutsy. But when you decide to go for it, its well worth the pay off. Anyone with Professional Opportunist, Fancy a Pot of Jam, or any of James other releases will know exactly what I’m talking about! The first thing that jumped out at me was how great of a performer Fritz is. He was very engaging and aware of his audience. I won’t list each every routine but some that stood out to me were: Boxing Day This was a multi phase card to box routine. That had a lot of great moments in it. You have to have your misdirection down and be ready to go for it. But I can see myself doing this for sure. This is also one of those routines that you can edit to your liking. You do not have to do every phase. And you will still come away looking like a world class magician. It’s a four king Production I loved this, especially the last production. Fritz’s magic is very visual without being flourishy. A lot of magicians seem to get the two confused now days. But again I will be adding this to a four ace routine that I currently do. y.am.s.m.a.t. Cards vanish, transpose, appear, change color, and just about anything else you can think of. Talking about a work horse of a routine! I wont go into detail with his multiple selection routine, we should know what it is by now. Most magicians have one. But this one was particularly nice. And again you could tell that he has worked every inch of these routines and there isn't a routine that was just thrown on this disk as filler. And like I said, those are just a few. Were there effects I didn’t like? Just a couple and I wouldn’t say I didn’t like them. They were either something I personally wouldn’t perform or I already have a variation of the same trick that I like better. So its not to say they were bad, they just are not for me! I will say that for a DVD that has twelve effects that has at least 4-5 effects that I can see myself performing straight away and a few more that I will get to soon. That’s pretty good and to me that’s a bargain for only 30.00 You can pick this up through RSVP or even Penguin! http://www.rsvpmagic.com/copy-of-lets-go-dutch/ |
