When he was on Oprah in the 90s, DC mentioned an accident that happened with a floating car. He said it rose three feet, then fell. "But if it had been up 6 feet, I would have been beneath it and I would have disappeared."
And he went on to say that the mistake got him some press and it resulted in higher ticket sales. Was this a true story? Was he ever doing a simple levitation of a vehicle? The only one I'm familiar with was that Asrah he did on a TV special - but I doubt that the car fell (if ya know what I mean). Did anything like this ever happen, or is it one of those "make your own legends" tactics that Houdini used to use? |

As I know this happened during a stage show in a Casino at Lake Tahoe in the early 80s.

I believe he did that with a Ferrari.

Yeah, Ferrari. But did an actual car fall... Or did the Asrah f**m fall? Just curious what went down.

I remember reading it was the actual car. Just one of the front corners if that makes any sense?

That's... pretty awesome.
Would love to see the accident report: "The vehicle fell... Because magic." Does Blaney make a hoop big enough for a car? Lol |

I can't imagine that t was the actual car as I don't believe the car ever leaves the ground. Perhaps it's an embellishment to further the the story's intrigue?

It was Copperfield's 3rd TV special that had the Levitating Ferrari, in 1980. I found a video clip online, in case others haven't seen it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgoiFfrCaew If the story is true, it's referring to something that happened on tour, and not on TV. And it would have to refer to a different presentation. - Donald P.S. Franz Harary also did a floating (flying) car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og30b7_qHxk

I would imagine that the story is not only false, but is meant to serve as sort of psychological "wild goose chase" for anyone who might be thinking about the trick a little too much if you know what I'm saying...

The incident happened in Vegas, I cannot recall what year. The effect did not go as planned an thus was abrubtly ended. The story was then relayed about the "car" falling as to get good publicty from a bad situation, if you know what I mean? we will just say that I know someone who was there.

I remember when it was reported in the media that DC was burned while practicing something involving a "Circle of Fire". I wonder if that was a publicity stunt, too?
